Right im a complete and utter noob to this but ive been following the fourums for a couple of days now and read back about 20 pages, and tried to search but i had a bit of trouble with that. Basically im thinking of purchasing a GP2X :D but im kinda poor so it requires a bit more justifaction but i just have a few questions.

Is there a descent PSX emu out there that will emulate final fantasy 7/8/9 reasonably well??? And how big do you reckon the files would be (for the ff games??? and the emu)

How would i go about getting Doom?

And what formats of E-books does it read?

Also what forms of media does it read i.e. Mp3,Mp4 etc...?

I think thats about it.. actually one more things are there any (UK preferably) websites that do cheap SD cards that the GP2X can read?

And sorry if these are stupid questions....

psx emulator has progresseed a lot but most everything isn't playable, final fantasy runs ok but I don't know for sure whether its fast enough to be worth playing. For doom you download prboom then search on google for all the required wad files and all that stuff. It reads ebooks in the txt format though people have created pdf readers. It plays mp3's, avi's (divx or xvid), jpeg, gif, and a few more I don't know. http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/SD_card_compatibility that has the compatible sd card list so shop around for anything that is said to work on there (use froogle or something). A few resources to answer your questions are...

- html with lynx, plain text with the built in txt reader, and there are a couple apps for pdf that are pretty rough. I haven't tried the pdf reading programs because I've heard they aren't very useable, currently.

- avi (xvid/divx), mp3, ogg

- I don't know about sd in the UK.

For cheap SD cards:

Play.com do a 2GB card for £17.99 delivery. I think it's Toshiba memory, but rebranded. I'm using one fine with a GP2X just now.

7Day shop do a Sandisk 2GB card for £17.99 + Delivery. Most places sell these cards for £25-30+

Really its up to you, I've never bought anything from 7day shop (whereas play.com takes a good 20% of any wages I get), but the price is a bargain for Sandisk memory which has a pretty good reputation for speed / reliability.

Personally I'm going to pick up one from 7dayshop once this GBA advance emulator has high compatability, my poor play.com 2gb card is almost full :-(

No it doesn't.

Sandisk overcharges and is usually very slow.

its true I spent £20 (about $35) on a Memory Stick reader for something that as we found out can now be bought for $3

For memory cards I always stick with either Fuji. Kingston or intergral memory Never had a problem with them.

Personally I've never had any problems with sandisk. But if anyone can better £17.99+shipping for a 2GB SD card for a known brand - please post, for both me and the original poster :)

sandisk are good, but do have problems occasionally (i havent had them, but ive heard alot of people do), i have found their stuf pricey, but its pretty much the name your paying for there, either way, if you want a good sd card, check neweg and find a cheap one with good reviews (cause your sure to find a good deal then)

So far my A-Data 2 GB card hasn't given me any problems, I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately Newegg.com doesn't seem to carry them right now, they probably ran out or something....

Also free shipping coupon if you use Paypal and the coupon code PAYPALFREE

Weird.

For the life of me I was searching for it about a week ago and I couldn't find it, although in my defense I don't think thats the same exact one I bought.

Mine was 150X I believe and that one is 50X.
