Hmmm, just wondering if there are any Linux users here.
I have a problem:

I bought a 160 Gig harddisk (Samsung) which uses 48bit LBA (sure, otherwise it couldn't be bigger than 137 Gig).

Now, the server (an old pentium) doesn't support harddisks larger than 65 Gig, which shouldn't be a problem, because Linux doesn't use the bios settings to mount harddisks.

But my Linux (Suse 7.1) only supports normal LBA mode and therefore the harddisk is being recognized as a 137 Gig one.

Now my question:
Does anyone know here, if there exists a working IDE driver for 48bit LBA?
Where do I get it?

Or has 48bit LBA already been included in a kernel? Which version?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I got Mandrake Linux 9.1 ( http://www.mandrake-linux.com/ ) and recently installed a hot swappable 200GB ( 189Gb after formatting ) drive to do backups - diskdrake automatically detected this and mounted it!

It uses Kernel 2.4.21

Hope this helps!
