    Gpfce Rom Selector Background

Yes. Both in format specifics and in number of colors. I found this out the hard way.

    Best Compiler?

In my experience, gcc does a pretty good job with -O2. In your example, maybe you compiled with debug enabled? Well, a program that does nothing should probably run faster than even 57 fps on a Athlon 2100+. You might want to do some profiling to see whether the CPU hog is in your program.

X-Men for the (NES) A friend of mine gave it to me for free. I realized why in about 2 minutes after I started playing it.

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

Probably not until it's somewhat useful. It's still way too slow. I don't think releasing an emulator that supposedly uses the 940t but runs at 15fps max is constructive for promoting the use of the 2nd cpu. :D

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

This is with a port of the C++ source. I've actually taken a look into this. The general problem is that you're talking about virtualizing the GP2X in the same manner that software like VMWare or Xen works for the Intel x86. Note that even though the CPU is of the same RISC architecture...

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

I'm not sure what this statement means. What I meant by limiting to 4k on the 940t is to reduce the amount of code space required to perform the parallel tasks, so that all the code would fit in the 4k cache on the 940 CPU. That way it would not have to goto uncached physical memory for code...

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

Game Boy Advance. Let me clarify. I'm skipping every other frame, so I'm trying to render 30 fps, but it can't keep up, so the game appears to be running about 1/2 normal speed. I don't know if that translates to full speed at 15 fps. Probably does not due to other overhead.

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

So here's the thing. I've been working on a port of Visualboy Advance for the gp2x. If you've ever looked at the code, you'll see that it's organized/refactored quite well, although at the great expense of speed. I actually put the 940 to use on this port, and it definitely makes a difference...

    Falling Sand

This simulation/game is pretty neat. Addictive... The java port would've been fairly straightforward, but I didn't see source provided. Also, the java applet version takes up tons of CPU.

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

I took a look at this, and it's pretty interesting. This may work.

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

Appreciate the reply, as always. So 30 mA doesn't sound too bad. On the wiki it claims that the gp2x draws close to 400 mAh with both cpu's running, so I'm guessing about 370mA without the 940? Pretty cool that you work on embedded platforms. I guess I'm not "really" using C++ in this case...

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

I believe the selector software down clocks the gp2x during menu selection, and then upclocks it again when starting the program. However, it may not upclock it back to what it started with. That's my guess. I haven't looked at all the code for selector, only the file display part, which I...

2nd Cpu, Utilised Much In Emulators?

So this is where the "high tech" threads are :D I'm doing some serious stuff with the 940t now; really hoping to see some results soon... Just a few questions in case anyone has tried these 1) I was wondering if anyone has experience with the impact of battery life when using the 940...

    15 Bpp Video Mode

I've looked through the wiki and some docs, and did not see any info on this. Does anyone know whether: 1) gp2x supports 15bpp video mode natively? i.e. no software conversion. 2) if so, how to set this? Thanks.

I've already sent the source to kounch. According to him he will merge the changes into the next release of selector.

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

Just noticed that gpfce (v.02) is about to hit the 1000 downloads mark on archive.gp2x.de. Currently sitting at 999 downloads. :D It's good to know people enjoy this gp2x NES emulator port. I'll try to address some of the other remaining issues in the next release. I probably won't have...

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

Try turning off the volume limiter on your gp2x. I find that it's a bit screwy when turned on. With it off and at max volume, it's quite loud I think.

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

I'm getting used to the stretching :D Seriously though, I'm not sure at this point what can be done actually. Only with some serious clipping can the aspect ratio get better. I wanted to fix the major issues noted by users in version 0.1 in a timely manner. Plus I had a bit of free time...

    Gpfce V0.2 Released

You have go add -gg to the gpfce_config file, not the gpfce.gpe. That does nothing. i.e. cmdLine=./gpfce -gg
