    Tales of an Assembly

No, I'm sorry if my tone sounded like I was offended, but I was actually quite impressed by those environmental conditions, as they are very different from the ones I live in (here in a hot summer you hit 32ºC rarely). The thing is, you live in a very harsh environment for battery powered...

    Tales of an Assembly

You usually charge things indoors... No A/C then? I hope that's only a few days a year; that's not healthy. At all. Then maybe this??: Edit: and you don't have any problem charging your smartphone those days? Because that temperature is on the hot side for battery powered devices: Apple...

On the cromulency of pedancy and other questions of English languacy, a quest for our common joy and enlightenment.

It sounds pretty close in English because they had not enough personality back then to invent their own term (or to deform the latin one so no one noticed...) and borrowed copied something similar to the original latin term (aequator). By the way, the Portuguese also had a bit of imagination and...

    Tales of an Assembly

Fun fact: Ecuador is equator in spanish :D "Man, there are 23 people having so much fun with their Pyras that they have no time to share anything!"

    Tales of an Assembly

So, 'news zombies' will now turn into 'reviews zombies', won't they? Actually it's not a big change, just the beginning of their moan from 'neeews' into 'revieeews' :p

    Just a quick heads up

Kernel Yup, some minor issue charging at 3A. But we already knew it would ship a bit 'rough' so no big deal.

I don't know what I find more amusing, users who quote themselves or users who only appear to post something negative. :D Anyway, in case anyone doesn't follow the mailist: Have fun.

    VOIP phone question

We had this problem (needed 2 different numbers but unwilling to pay for the 2nd number) 1 or 2 years ago, this is what we did: Here you can contract cell phone lines that are 'associated' to wired phone numbers. You get a SIM with its own cell phone number but you can also receive calls...

    Just a quick heads up

Another thing to have in mind, though you British fellows should contact a consultant about this to be sure, but this: So anything 'imported' during the transition period (between 1 feb. 2020 and 31 dec. 2020 as UK has already left the EU) would be subject to customs clearance I guess. And...

    GPD WIN 3

I agree, that's the first thing I thought when I saw it. If you grip the console/thing you can only use the joysticks comfortably, in order to use the cursor and buttons you can't grip it comfortably. That can work with a smartphone, where you only hold it a few seconds to text or to do fast...

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

AFAIK the die of the OMAP5 goes on the side of the connectors, that image on the wiki is not populated. So you have <CPU board> - <OMAP5 die> - <heat spreader with glue & insulation> - <gap> - <Mainboard board>. If you reduce the board thickness I suppose it changes nothing, as the die and...

    3. No guarantee the price of the upgraded Pyra (if it ever happened) will be as low as the preorder Pyra.

It reminds me of the Pandora!

@TrashyMG has a lot of videos of an OMAP5 devboard on YouTube running several things: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcWp82N820P_Nq7Kdodj0ngnQc57txBFj For instance: On the Pyra it could be different (thermal constraint, power constraint on battery, thermal management...) but I think...

Well, opinions are like as***... Every project has to live with negative opinions. Not a product fits every taste out there, that's why you usually have several options. Regarding hardware bug that prevents the use of built in power management... If true, well, that can also be done with...

Buck, Chuck comes to my mind on English speaking countries... Actually quite used on fiction for creepy characters... :D He, that's how country people/farmers call their dogs/cows over here xD

Two pieces of advice: The spell checker most browsers (Firefox & Chrome come to my mind...) include usually helps with orthography. Wordreference is a good place to solve some doubts.

Those are not the top 3 languages, the top 3 languages are: Latin, mathematics and music. Period.

I would advise to take the mailing list with a pinch of salt, because what you read there is part of a conversation, not exactly a public statement. All in all, in case anyone missed it: So now we know for certain, the official plural for Pyra is indeed Pyras. :D
