Well since it's at the preorder stage, it's important to actually convince people to preorder by realistically showing what's being preordered. Right now there are pictures at angles a person wouldn't use it at.
Even if there were only prototypes, the keys aren't prototypes are they?
TL;DR "The Pyra keyboard has awful glare, I wouldn't buy that thing!"

I've always had a problem with keys, especially shine and poor contrast with dark...
That's good news.
I found the media package images with more keyboard pictures. They were all on an angle showing a kind of tunnel-shine. Certainly the color difference and the backlighting alone are huge improvements.
Tor? No. Please don't consider another layer of complexity.
Just so you know, I had read an article about a guy (in Germany?) who was accused (arrested I believe) of "someone else's" internet usage through a Tor share that he was participating in.
No, squinting and turning doesn't help shine with rounded domes with dark blue text on a black background.
I presume I'd need to have the backlighting on for the Pyra if it's anything similar.
Oh eww, the shine on those buttons is terrible. That made my Pandora useless.. is it really that bad in all lighting?
Also, regarding the touchscreen borders, this might be a problem for very thin scroll bars. Presumably the default size will be fairly wide.
I expect there are two primary concerns when making a default distribution/base decision:
- sales
- support
Having something pre-built with useful and interesting programs will let someone feel immediately empowered. Purchase-regret must be diminished.
Have a good balance between useless and...
I might get on board with this. I bought a Pi but USB 2.0 is trash, and then I got a CubieTruck but it's annoying to get going from scratch. Something that's "Pyra compatible" would be nice as a little torrent box, even if it had a CPU that's "bad" and has to be underclocked to work properly...
So far it sounds like transcoding down is going to be the way to go. 720p is (obviously) the target for the screen, but exploring things which are larger filesize but easier on the processor might be the way to go since I'd be transcoding anyway.
I may as well also be open to alternate video...
I was wondering if the Pyra will have hardware decoding support. I'm pretty new to this topic, and I understand that it's only recently being added into processors and Pyra's will be a bit out of date. So I'm guessing no.
Is this one of the things which might be made available with some...
