    Joystick Won't Move Right

ralp99 & Alex: Grow up. I posted in the General GP2X forum because it's a general question. Yes, I requested help, but the Help forum is described as "a forum for very new users" which I am not. Proposing a ban because I posted in the General GP2X forum and not the GP2X help forum is...

    Joystick Won't Move Right

After several furious rounds of GODS using DrMDx, my joystick stopped responding when pressing it to the right. I checked the Test Mode and every other joystick position works fine. But the right position is now dead. I took off the default joystick cap and pressed the copper pin to the right...

    Questions About The Video Player

The default video player on the GP2X works fairly well, but lacks a number of features like Auto-Resume, Custom Bookmarks, support for more codecs, etc. And the sound volume seems quite low compared to the mp3 and game modules. I know that the video player is a separate program, but is it...

    Favourite Genesis Games?

    1. GODS (haven't played it since the Amiga, but spent all weekend with it on the GP2X) :) 2. Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 3. Cool Spot 4. Mortal Kombat 5. Flashback

Screen Quality : Anyone With Those Issues ?

Yep. That's what it looks like on mine too. If nothing more, you can rest in the knowledge that you're not alone. :)

Screen Quality : Anyone With Those Issues ?

I get flickering on my video playback as well. I also get the diagonal scanlines. And if I move the unit while playing back video, I get vertical scanlines which are very noticable. But I agree. These the scanlines aren't that much of a distraction. The flickering, on the other hand, is...

Ways To Make The Gp2x Better

There seems to be this general attitude that people who bought the GP2X must have inherintly heard of the GP32 and be intimately aware of its history, its manufacturer and its support community. But that's just narrow thinking. I had never heard of the GP32 nor its community or its forums...

Ways To Make The Gp2x Better

64-MB is too small for my needs, so I purchased a 1-gig card. My point isn't that I can't afford a 64-MB card. It's that requiring the consumer to purchase something additional just to get the unit to work looks bad. It would be like Dell or Gateway selling you a computer, but when it...

Ways To Make The Gp2x Better

Actually that's not the case. The GBAX site never said that the product I paid for was a pre-release. Go back and look. Even now it states that it can do things that it can't: To date, MAME is non-existent and there is only one Media player, which is buggy as hell. It wasn't until I found...

Ways To Make The Gp2x Better

I'm not saying that community involvement is bad. On the contrary, it's vital. My point is that the community should be focusing on things like making applications, games, skins, etc. rather than having to do GPH's job of giving us usable information on the product's use. :) The problem here...

Ways To Make The Gp2x Better

I know people's exepriences with the GP2X have been all over the map since it got released. There are plenty of "what do you like" and "what doe you hate" threads. But in the spirit of constructive criticism, I thought it might be good to start a thread that Game Park Holdings could reference...

    Gp2x Power Supply & Batteries

In the USA, I picked up 4 Energizer 2500mAh rechargable batteries and a charger for $19.95. Got them at Walgreens, a nationwide drugstore, although they're also available at Best Buy for about the same price. I haven't picked up a power supply yet, but I believe Circuit City or Radio Shack...

    Flickering Video

I know it's not the original file because it plays beautifully on the PC. I've also encoded other files (xvid) and they've exhibited the same problems. It may be an xvid thing, as I don't recall that problem with Divx files. I'll test it when I get home tonight.

    I Can't Start Games

I'm having trouble getting any game to start. I put SD lib at the root directory and installed it. I also put the Pygame files in their directory at the root (as described at the download site). But games like PyTetris still won't run. Do these need to be at the root as well? Do the game...

    Flickering Video

Like most people, I'm getting the scanline effect on video playback. But has anyone else noticed flickering (rapidly changing brightness) on video playback? I finally got video to play, both Divx and Xvid (with the latest firmware). The Divx files look great. But the Xvid files now flicker. :(

    Photo Viewer

Does anyone know the maximum resolution of images supported by the GP2X? I tried putting some 5 megapixel images direct from my camera on the GP2X, but when I went to view them, the Picture Viewer choked and then dumped me back out to the main menu. :( I haven't tried extremely low-res...

Believe It Or Not. I Need Help. With Videos.

Some Xvid files work for me and others don't. The Xvid sample video that came on the CD with the GP2X won't play. But an Xvid I downloaded from the net worked just fine. Divx files with the 1.0 firmware seem to work just fine.

    Sd Card Problems

Okay, I can confirm this. It was the card reader and not the cards. I purchased a new SanDisk multi-card reader and it had no problem writing to the card whatsoever. Thanks for all the help. Steve

    Sd Card Problems

I've tried the direct USB connection but unfortunately, I'm stuck with the 1.0 firmware, so no luck. WinXP sees the device, but notes that there are problems and won't assign a drive letter. :( :P That's the problem. I can't get files onto the SD card, either directly through the GP2X or...

    Sd Card Problems

I just purchased two SanDisk 1GB SD cards for my GP2X. I inserted them into the card reader that I got from GBAX. Windows XP recognized the reader and the SD card and installed the appropriate drivers. I now see a new drive in Windows Explorer, but when I try to write files to the SD card, I...
