Pandora Is the Pandora capable of emulating a USB HID device? (Yes!)

I played around with g_hid a while ago to do this. It's pretty easy but you seem to need to modify the kernel board support files to actually do anything with it (you can't 'just' modprobe g_hid and then send mouse key events to /dev/g_hid as I'd expected). Of course this makes it hard to...

Pandora at Tokyo Games Show 2012 ?

Not at all, I work for Star Micronics, we're a manufacturer, mostly of machine tools (lathes etc.) precision parts (tiny gears, watch parts, screws for hard disks etc.) and printers (for receipting, lottery etc). A lot of the old timers here probably had a Star printer in the 90's - I did...

Pandora at Tokyo Games Show 2012 ?

I'll be back in Japan at the end of October, too bad I'll miss TGS2012, that would have been fun. I work for a company in Shizuoka so usually visit 3-4 times a year, not as much as I'd like these days (used to spend about 3 months/year there).

    Pandora as a USB controller?

Yeah, I know that there can only be one gadget driver loaded. Actually what I did was enable it with the startup configuration gui included with the OS, and reboot. To eliminate the chance of me cocking it up. If you say it's working then I must have done something wrong. I checked the Super...

    Pandora as a USB controller?

I was still on HF6, which didn't include g_hid, so I had to upgrade to SuperZaxxon B4. Unfortunately I can't get any of the USB gadget drivers to load at all (at least g_hid, and g_serial which did work for me before, and g_printer which never worked right, but would at least load). If I boot...

    Pandora as a USB controller?

That doesn't give me much hope, but I'll give it a go. I've found that the g_* drivers coming with the Kernel are a bit hit & miss unfortunately and fixing them is beyond me. I got g_serial working easily, but g_printer was only half there (plug&play worked, but no communication).

    Pandora as a USB controller?

It should actually be pretty easy by using the Pandoras USB OTG port and a standard A to Mini B USB cable. You need to load the g_hid module (and compile it, if it isn't included in the OS, I don't have my Pandora with me to check)...

    Music setup/system advice please

Look into setting up an mpd server. It will run on minimal hardware (anything with the grunt run a minimal Linux and play the music files that you have) and you can use almost anything is a remote, I use my Laptop, Android tabet, phone or Pandora, whatever is handy. I run my main mpd server on...

    MyPaint picture gallery

I just hooked up my Wacom Intuos 4 tablet to see if we would get lucky, nut unfortunately it is not supported. The USB device is enumerated but there are no suitable drivers. If I remember correctly, later versions of the Linux kernel include Wacom support, so the best option is probably to wait...

    Age

35 today :-) and a professional Software Engineer too. My goal is to enjoy coding again and make some Pandora original games. But the truth is right now I'm enjoying myself too much playing old favourites and Super Geometry Dust :-)

Ill see you guys later(Im leaving)

For me there is. Carrying it, and balancing it on your lap while on the train or a flight is a bit inconvenient. If you don't mind the cabling/balancing (or have a desk) then any netbook plus decent USB controller can do things the Pandora can't. I tried carrying a USB controller around with my...

Ill see you guys later(Im leaving)

I know you were joking but I guess that's the point, no new hardware will play those games any better. In fact I guess an iPad2, Xoom, Netbook will play them worse because they lack the high quality controls. The Pandora will never be outdated while it has no competition. Having said that...

open letter to Pandora Hard/Software development

I couldn't agree more. My job means that I take a lot of long haul flights (from UK to Las Vegas, Taiwan, Japan and Greece in the last 5 weeks) and the Pandora has transformed the experience for me! It is truly an amazing little device, I caught up with 'Being Human', played a ton of old...

    R.i.p, Dear Left Nub ?

I'm pretty sure that mine was from the first batch with new nubs, and it shipped in January this year. So Magic Sam definitely has the old nubs.

    Dj software on panda?

I'm a Mixxx user and would really love to see it on the Pandora. It has a netbook theme which proves it can handle small screens, but it can be a bit processor hungry. I'm also not sure how much fun it would be with a single audio output, anyone succeeded in getting any USB soundcards working...

    Android apps on non-android OS

I have an Archos 43 here, it's a pretty neat, thin mini-tablet (OMAP 3 based, I think) which runs Android. But it has one fatal flaw, a resistive touch screen. Take it from me, Android is very frustrating to use with a resistive screen simply because it's been designed around capacitive. For...

    Pandora Price Increase!

My numbers were just an example, so the reality is even better :) I do, just. And I agree that the original thread is by far the best way to follow this. It is easy to take this the wrong way, but if you pay attention to the details then it is obvious that the intentions are good and the...

    Pandora Price Increase!

I can understand why it looks that way, but seriously read the details in Craigs posts on the original thread. He has been (uncharacteristically) talkative and open with the details. The main point is that production can be doubled with a small increase in manpower and the extra profit keeps OP...

    Pandora Price Increase!

It's nothing like that! It's like the price of salami has gone up for new customers, but as a side-effect the exclusive early members (who unfortunately have a longer queue) get two people serving them, instead of one. The only real concern is parts, but we know that batch 2 parts were ordered...
