SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

The point is options. x86 can run android linux windows, whatever you want basically, as long as there are drivers. Giving people more choice is never a bad thing. You don't necessarily have to develop for or actively support those choices but the fact that they aren't taken from the end user...

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

You're basing your argument against x86 on mobile based on years of failures doesn't actually have any meaning. Because there hasn't been an x86 chip with low power usage available in a consumer device until a few months ago. So there is no history of failure for this type of soc. 2014 will have...

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

It's very viable. But it seems the Ed us the only person who really wants to use an soc this way. Everybody else is creating tablets. The only interesting thing I would say is the shield but it doesn't have Linux and isn't x86 so it's mostly uninteresting as well. Arm was really good when it was...

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

The benefits are myriad and pretty obvious. Just need to consider what will have to be traded in order to get them and whether that trade makes sense for the pyra device. I don't think I'll be buying any arm devices in 2014, but that doesn't mean it's not a good choice for what ed what's to...

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

What you may think is garbage can be quite important to other people. And vice versa.

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

This is basically how I feel. I'm very excited to see bay trail and the upcoming mullins running steam. Unfortunately they are all using windows and are tablets. I would love a x86 linux clamshell with full keyboard and gaming controls. I've already got an arm gaming and emulation device (nvidia...

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Those are Canadian dollars. I was reading through the testimonials and people are getting lots of designs. 393 for the 499 price point. 104 for the 299. Not to downplay the efforts made here but, take a look at some of the examples in the testimonials. They are much higher quality and look a lot...

SoC Poll - What's most important for you?

Voted for balanced and x86. Basically because I want to run steam on this device. To play the linux steam games as well as use as a streaming device. In addition to be a phone replacement (3g) as well as a possible pc replacement (dock)

Finding a proper name and logo :)

Whats with all the flames an ambigrams?  IMO should be something simple. Scalable. Should be able to envision both on a gaming device and a professional one. And on a business card. 99 design might be something to look into. Crowd sourced logo and graphic design...

    SoC: Back and forth!

I could see this selling way more units if it was x86.

    The software side

I'm going to preface this post by saying that I am not a computer programmer, nor a linux user or even a pandora owner. So please feel free to laugh at or ignore this post as you see fit. That being said I am a user of android devices like the nvidia shield and android smartphones and I'm...

    The software side

Would be nice if the pyra could come as close to a debian desktop as possible. If it could be used jusy like you would any ordinary debian install. That being said minimenu and a pnd system would be nice but not as important as on Pandora assuming it gets close to a real debian pc.

    Confliting requirements

Is it not possible to make the storage large enough that we don't have to worry about removing software? Maybe spanning the root across the nand + sd storage?

    Welcome new and old members!

Kickstarter had a kind of culture that surrounds it that you don't get any where else really. There are people who go around searching for interesting KS projects to back. The exposure is so much greater than you get out of a few tech website articles. It's also an exciting system, the drive to...

In order to replace my current handheld pc (smartphone) it should have a camera.

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

You're saying done games won't move to SD. That's odd I don't think I've come across one that wouldn't.
