Lcd Screen? That Is Too Old-Tech For What The Pandora Can Do.

Maybe when OLED becomes affordable you guys can just make screens that we can plug into our existing units in place of the old LCDs. Or a mail-in program where you do it for the people too afraid to open them up.

    Usb Emulation And Bluetooth Goodness

Pandora is one of very few open-source devices that have a USB client port. The only others I've used are PSP and DS (flash carts, Action Replay etc have USB ports), which have to be hacked and are poorly documented. In comparison, Pandora is fully open and documented, and also has: wifi, USB...

Sony Psp To Play Retro Games

There are mods and cheap adaptors to use SD. Even a nice adaptor that fits two microSD (which it basically combines into one big card) and fits right in the MS slot just fine. I don't find the screen is a big problem, especially since most retro consoles didn't hit that resolution. (Even N64...

    Flash Related Question

Youtube's HTML5 support should basically give you the video URL directly; you'd just need to write a decoder, and spoof user-agent because oddly enough they're reportedly dumb enough to use browser sniffing.

    Php-Gtk For Games!

No reason you can't run a PHP interpreter on Pandora, but PHP really is designed for web development. I'd highly recommend Lua and/or C/C++ for games. (Lua has bindings for GTK, OpenGL, etc as well; they're very easy to make.)

    Knob Polisher

Will the protagonist only be polishing knobs? I can see them being approached by people who need someone to explore a cave, or perhaps poke into a dark tunnel, mining for nuggets of gold, chicken, or any other substance you might find in nugget form. Gotta keep your options open.

    Hellollo

Word prediction may well be better as part of GTK than built into individual programs. Cool either way though.

    Mupen64Plus

Replying to some pretty old posts... Paper Mario pages code in and out of RAM a lot. It might be worth hacking that game to use the 8MB expansion, page its code in there, and never page it out again, if possible. Or have an alternate mode for games like this where you don't recompile the code...

    Frying An Arm Chip

It's a bad thing to point out how, if a given method were used to detect tampering, it could be defeated?

Thoughts On "why Isn't Software Done"/'i Payed... I Ex

Hey, it works. Slow wifi beats no wifi. I have to agree with the OP. Just the fact that open development is encouraged rather than hindered makes this the most awesome handheld I've ever heard of. :D

Prototype Impressions + Mupen64Plus With Loz: Ocarina Of Time

Agreed, sound is very important. Even a bit of stuttering and clicking can be very annoying. However, my real concern is whether Diddy Kong Racing works. :P It works on the PC version of Mupen64Plus, but not the Wii version, which I suppose has to do with having to port the high-level microcode...

Pandora Quite Realistic Chance To Have About 400Mb Of Ram In Pandora

I'm going to vote yes, although the poll question is a little biased... this is not something you'd want to have on all the time, but it's good to have the option. Well, is the internal storage compressed? :P

The One Game You Can't Wait To Play

I've wanted handheld Diddy Kong Racing... basically ever since I played Diddy Kong Racing. :P Mario Kart as well. I've hacked N64 games for a while now and I believe Pandora should certainly be able to run them at full speed, with tight enough code. A SNES emulator that actually manages a...

    Accessories/ultimate Docking Station Thread

This is something I'd been thinking about for a while, and this seems like the best thread for it. Fact: Pandora would make a wicked cameraphone, especially if you paired it with a Bluetooth headset (so as not to have to hold the device up to your head in an awkward fashion). Problem: Pandora...
