I realize that the MAME philosophy is about accurate emulation, but couldn't someone do a test build of like 0.37b10 (0.46)? That version came out a few months later than the version we're currently using.

^Scroll down about halfway to the "2000 MAME Releases"
Just out of curiosity, is it possible to port a more recent version of MAME than 0.37b5? I'm certainly not talking about the most current MAME releases...but 0.37b5 is from back in 2000! Isn't there anyway to implement a slightly newer pack than that one? There's a lot of really good Data East...
My Wiz has just decided to die on me again. When I turn it on it boots to a yellow screen and does nothing else at all. I tried this with the memory card in/out, doesn't matter. Yellow screen is all I get.
I'm wondering, do I order another Wiz (will be my 4th Wiz) or do I finally just switch...
I saw some commentary about that on here. My current wiz is from Thinkgeek. Of course though it was ordered in Dec 2009. But it came from there nonetheless. Aside from any obvious hardware issue (squeaky buttons) I wonder if the emulator performance side of things is more attributable to user...
I've had my Wiz since December 2009 and have played it almost every single day. There's no question I'm replacing it. What I do want to know though, is there enough of a benefit in the Canoo to justify the +$50 for it? (Assuming the $99 sale price for the Wiz @ Thinkgeek.com)
Is the emulation...
Is it just me, or does this emu still have a lot of diagonal tearing in it? I was playing some Lost Vikings and DK Country 3 the other day and the tearing was very prevalent, even in this new version of the emu.
I saw Punch Out mentioned earlier on in this thread. I was able to get the graphical issues to dissapear by switching the "Force Region" option to PAL. The game feels a tad sluggish but the FPS counter says 50. :D
Sorry, momentary lapse of judgment there. I knew the rule, but was in a hurry and posted while I was at work and the rule slipped my mind. Wont happen again!
Have you seen this site? http://www.doomwadstation.com/main/tc.html
I just downloaded the Duke 3D total conversion and it worked great. I'm trying Blood and Quake2 conversions right now.
EDIT: Blood and Quake2 total conversions did not seem to work :\
Same basic principle. Not all emulators allow for zip files of the roms though, so you may have to unzip them depending on the emu. Playing new games (for the most part) is as easy as dropping rom files onto the SD card in the /ROMS folder of each emulator. Sometimes you need a special BIOS file...
Personally, for a perfectionist like me, this new update has made the Wiz even better. I can barely ever notice the tearing. I'm especially happy that it fixed this weird vertical line I got in GPFCE...which I guess is the equivalent of tearing?
I've noticed all the tearing is gone is prboom &...
Why when I pull up the emu's menu (while in game) the screen stretches to the Wiz's full screen size, but yet I can't make it entirely full size during actual gameplay? In fact it's not even close.
EDIT: Perhaps there's something I'm missing?
Confirmed as well. I was screwing around one day and added more bios files to the folder than the readme says to, and I coulda sworn the game did play a hair faster, but it was still wretched.
