    The Cradle

I'm using 5V from my PC's power supply (using a coaxial DC power connector I got from an old transformer). Also, as someone mentioned in a previous post, 3 amps is a LOT. I wonder why such high current would be required. The 120GB HDD I'm using says it only draws 0.5 amps; perhaps a lower input...

Actually, it could also be this : Could it not? jp

    The Cradle

Concerning the access to the power switch, I think the photos pretty much show what the situation is. The switch *can* be accessed, but it's not well thought out - it's just too tight a squeeze. As for the other question, it doesn't make any difference if you power the unit before or after...

    The Cradle

Yep, the groove in the back left side is directly lined up with the wrist strap (which I have not attached yet). As for the "sturdiness", the cradle is light, but it does have four little rubber pads that so far have kept it from moving around too much. The weight of the GP2X keeps it pretty...

    The Cradle

Well, I did not cut off the EXT port rubber cover. I simply opened up the GP2X and was able to easily remove it, without damaging it. That's the good side of the story: simple and accessible design. As for accessing the power switch, indeed, I can't see a solution other than filing a larger...

    The Cradle

Another design issue : when the GP2X sits in the cradle, the power switch and the USB port are out of reach! See: OK, maybe the power can be switched on: I just can't believe they haven't thought of this. jp

Plastic cover : I tried to flip it, strech it, roll it and fold it, but the only way I could get the GP2X to sit nicely was to remove it altogether. ;) jp

    The Cradle

In order to get the new GP2X to sit snugly in the new cradle, I had to actually remove the EXT connector's plastic cover! This is not very professional and makes one wonder about the entire design. If not for this, I find the cradle is so far behaving as advertised. I still have not gotten a...

    The Cradle

I just picked up my cradle 20 minute ago! Looks neat, although from what I see, the part in which rests the GP2X cannot be separated from the base (this would have made it less bulky when traveling). jp

    The Cradle

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to wait a little bit longer for the info. Otherwise, believe or not, I am mostly interested in this device travel purposes. I need text input functionality (with a *real* keyboard), and the possibility to download photos from my camera. Hopefully, the USB host will...

    The Cradle

Hello all, First post. In trying to figure out what I will need in terms of power supply to power both the cradle and the GP2X, this is what I have understood so far : The GP2X MKII is powered with 3.3V/2A The cradle is powered with 5V/3A The GP2X will not power the cradle The cradle will not...
