Red Alert! - Gp2x File Archive Is Out?!

I think the mention of Geoff is going to end up similar to Godwin'ing on these boards...

    Battery Life

If you're getting that poor performance (less than 3 hours) out of some good sanyo batteries, it's likely either the voltage regulator in your unit is bad, or the batteries are bad. Are you sure your charger charges them fully? It wouldn't hurt to try charging them twice once and see if it...

    GP2X Opengl For The Gp2x

Maybe the cube demo isn't a really great thing to test with... it could be more dominated by once-per-frame processing instead of the actual 3d calculations and such - unless this is more complex than the usual cube demo :) . I suppose you'd have to check.

    Touchy Roms?

SNES Doom and possibly wolfenstein is a superfx game... not all of the emulators actually support that, and the ones that do don't really run it at a good speed.

    GP2X Programming New Gp2x Bootloader

No chance. DOS (and many DOS applications) rely on lots of low level assumptions of the architecture, and it just wouldn't be feasable. Now, if you were to look at something like win32 compatability, that would probably be more feasible performance wise, because the applications tend to use...

    Super Gp2x Mod Project Underway

Hmm, this thread has got me thinking... Has anyone done tests to find the lowest voltage the GP2X will run from when powered by the AC adapter port? If it's the same as the battery connection, then a cool idea would be a D cell x2 holder with a cable that goes to the AC adapter port...

    GP2X Setting A Standard..

I'd worry that a task manager would be kinda limited in usefulness, since you'll never be able to run 2 programs at once that both use the 940, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's issues with the video accelerator or TV output as well.

    GP2X Frame Buffers?

Not to mention burn extra power and scare small children. I think interrupt on the 940 is really the best solution, as it still leaves the 940 open for other tasks like ogg decoding or what have you, and you should be able to halt execution when there's nothing to do.

    GP2X Rtc Module

Well, if the aim is only to have the file dates chronologically consistent within the GP2X itself (this is suffecient for things like sorting by modification time, or gp2x side build tools that care about modification times), then scanning for the most recent file and taking that time should...

    GP2X Rtc Module

Serial clock module wired to the RS-232? Could make debugging more problematic, but one could include a physical switch to disable it.

    GP2X Rtc Module

How about this idea... Scan the filesystems and find the most recent changed file (I believe on linux filesystems you can just check the last modified time for the root of the partition, not sure for fat32 though). It certainly can't be that slow to scan through a flash device anyway... no...

Guy Who Wants To Sue Gamepark, Gph, Me & Ed

Wow, he developed that plan? A plan which is to... sit back and do nothing? I mean, especially considering the hardware is pretty cookie-cutter style, and the software mostly just needed some minor modification of open source components... that's not a plan; that's a relinquishment of...

    GP2X Rtc Module

If GPH had exposed the battery backup pins, one could probably connect up a button cell or supercapacitor, but I kinda doubt they did.

    GP2X Does The Gp2x Run At 81.2hz?

From a pure memory bandwidth perspective, that should be easily handled, but it's possible the video subsystem needs extra clocks to do the layer compositing and other misc. things before displaying. There could be other things, like dram refresh not running fast enough at low speeds, or the...

    GP2X Does The Gp2x Run At 81.2hz?

This is probably right. Not sure how much it affects battery usage, but it definitely steals some memory bandwidth. About 12MB/s at 320*240*16bpp*80fps. Depending on how the memory controller works, this might be part of the reason the gp2x can't operate at very low clock speeds too.

Guy Who Wants To Sue Gamepark, Gph, Me & Ed

What marketing plans??? GP2X marketing that I know of is a few magazine ads, some banners, a couple web sites, but mostly word of mouth and gp32 reputation. I hate to say it, but the marketing isn't exactly something to be proud of in any event, and it's certainly NOT what made it a commercial...

    Video Encoding And Such

Try playing around with different encoding profiles and things like that... you could give virtualdub a try too. There might be other forum threads dealing with it too, so it'd be good to look around here some more. You might consider messing around with a short test clip that's long enough to...

Idiots Guide To Gp2x External Hard Drive

Ext3 should work also, but the journalling will add some performance overhead. The only difference between 2 and 3 is a journal used to make sure that filesystem structure changes either entirely occur or don't occur at all (to prevent filesystem corruption). By default, it doesn't protect...

Idiots Guide To Gp2x External Hard Drive

fat32 is only limited to 32GB if you use windows XP (maybe 2000) to format it. If you use linux's mkdosfs or an older windows, or possibly even the windows command line format command, it'll work it fine. Note that fat32 tends to perform worse as the partition size increases, just due to how...

Anybody Got A Serial Cable They Could Lend Me?

If you've bricked it, you might need more than a serial cable to fix it anyway, so I would try to borrow a breakout board if that's the case, or even just buy one since they're kinda useful.
