DJWillis wouldn't give source code because it was messy. But now it seems he gave it up like the first GPScumm project (the one that only run DOTT without sound).
Maybe someone should start it again, but I took a look on scummvm sources and I don't even know for sure what kind of package we...
long time no see ...
no more thread to this subject? it's kinda sad.
I don't have time to work more on the code, and scummvm 6 isn't out yet. anyway I'll be back soon (I hope so). meanwhile, can someone help me a little. since I don't have time yet, I would like to know where in the source (of...
in fact, with quality set to 5 in both oggenc (81-82 kbps VBR) and lame (64 kbps CBR), mp3 is smaller. but ogg is in VBR (damn I hate VBR), maybe it's why GPScumm is have trouble decoding it
in fact I never saw the point of ogg compressing. it was always bigger than mp3... when I encoded the bun into mp3 I got 50 meg (around 70 for the ogg)
I guess with a divx support (lol) the dig will fit entirely on a 128 SMC :P
ok. this test was really fast. same problem on maniac 2 french (anyway it's the same monster.sou file), and I couldn't even extract the monster.sou of Sam & Max. no error message, just a 1k .ogg file.
hmm, that's a bit strange, anyone succesfully played an OGG file one GPScummGP? I'm really...
ok, my fault, didn't tried this ogg conversion on gp32. in fact I have only intro speaking version, so no use (3meg to 2meg ogged =)
I see your point. gonna try this on several other games to see if it's only maniac 2 that is lagging when ogged.
I think mp3 isn't supported yet, only ogg. so stick with OGG only, not lame (mp3).
try to compress in ogg with:
extract --vorbis monster.sou
you should get a monster.sog file. then only up this file (not the .sou) to your SMC, it should work
I'm not at home right now, so no news about all this.
I need to find how ScummVM reads this .BUN file (and what is this GetGamePath() function).
I have source at home which was used to build a program that extract DIGMUSIC.BUN to WAV files (not one of my program, but didn't remember his name)...
once the digmusic.bun converted to wav it was 500+ Mo, now to OGG it's only 70.4Mo. COmpiled into BUN file it's 71Mo
I'm on my try to try this on digvoice.bun too. Don't know how much space I'm gonna win on this one.
this might be a little off-topic but, anyone tried Zak FM-Towns version? I mean with ScummVM or GPScummVM there's lot of bugs I don't see on scummvm website. like some sounds not playing (ie: Kazoo) and some palette errors (first ingame cutscene and zak's living room)
anyone else got these errors?
since I don't know what else to test I think I'm gonna look into the source to see if I find anything. anyway I don't think I'm good enought to quite understand this mess ;-P
anyway, since there is .SO3 and .SOG, is it possible to use the code about these files with .BUN files from The Dig?
I...
so I guess until scummVM isn't supporting compressed BUN files we will have to wait =)
thought since it was possible to extract wav files and recompress into BUN file, that compressing them and playing them was supported. maybe in next scummvm release them (it would be nice, even if the dig...
about The Dig (and other games), what about http://quick.mixnmojo.com/readmes/Resource...orandDumper.txt
don't have any of theses games yet, so I can't test it. but it may work I guess. tell me about it
didn't find the dig anywhere yet, so I can't test it. did you try encoding sound and music with the extract tool? even if it's not a monster.sou file it might work. give it a try =)
Ok, about indy 3 not launching, it was my bad. didn't selected 256 colors version =) now it runs but it crash while speaking to donovan. any one else got this?
by the way my version is a translated one (non-official), maybe that's why it crashes.
about Loom CD, got a bug with the staff...
testing french games part 2:
Sam & Max: the slowest cursor I've ever seen on GPScumm, + same problem of scrolling than with DOTT
BASS: won't even find the game in directory. will do more testing on this one too.
