I saw this, but I didn't see why this would be any better than WINE so I didn't bother getting it. Okay, a quick search leads me to this: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/differences/ (at bottom) which supports my belief that it is the same as free WINE, so no, you and I didn't miss anything.
I disagree. A lot of really good games that were made for systems like nintendo, SNES, N64, and PSX were made by teams of people who were able to put many more man hours into a game than the usual single homebrew coder. The complexity and length of these games is usually greater than the average...
my answers:
2) the directional buttons are a little different at first, but you get used to it pretty quick. I don't think its any better or worse than the 'nintendo-style' d-pad, it's just different. I've heard that it is nicer than the joystick.
4) 260 or 265 is max.
Asteroids for atari 2600 is funny. When my brother and I were kids we used to have that game and that must be the reason why it is still fun for me now. The only stupid thing about the atari game is that when you get over 99999 points, the score goes back to zero (and it only lets you build up 9...
I've had mine get stuck on a beep when the batteries don't have enough charge (F200). Usually I can notice the screen and led start to flicker about 5 seconds before it freezes (enough time to save my game state quick :))

Even though I've tested this myself (only with an F200) I thought I might as well throw it here. I don't really know what to do with it now anyways so maybe someone could enlighten me.
