    GBax.com or play-asia.com

Sorry to see people dislike Play-Asia so much, cuz I personally had good service with them. I live in the USA, and had no trouble using my Visa card. I used EMS for shipping - I placed my order on a Sunday at home and IIRC my GP32 shipped Monday and arrived Wednesday. Been a few weeks so I don't...

A couple of questions before mine arrives

If you download the emulator and read the file called "README.txt" you will see: TOS VERSIONS ------------ Use TOS 1.02 for maximum compatibility with games. Trust me. Always check the emulator's readme file first - they're there for a reason.

    Play-Asia shipping...

Play-Asia does NOT suck. I'm in NYC and I got mine there. I ordered on a Sunday and had it Tuesday! Great damn service. Plus they replied to all emails, even before I actually bought anything. Dust issues are not Play-Asia's fault - remember, the FLU is installed at the factory, not the store...

Anyone else getting worried about helix/PSP/other?

I agree the GP32 is THE open source portable right now. The PSP won't be the same. But the Helix should be just as open to development as GP32. Anyone can develop for PalmOS, and Helix uses SD cards which are much like SMC only smaller and higher capacities are available. I don't regret my GP32...

    Please..Read ASAP..!

Contact Play-Asia support email and explain the problems. It DOES sound like a defective unit. They have good customer service in my experience so give them a chance to help you before you do anything drastic. Also, did you try using it with another PC? That's the only thing I can think of...

    New Arcano version ?

I LOVE Arcano! It's one of the most impressive things for GP32 IMO. It's like a version of Arkanoid if Jeff "Yak" Minter got his hands on it or something. :) The vertical position is fresh and works fine. The game just needs much more of eveything - more levels, more stuff to do (i.e...

Will Game Park release a new portable?

2007?! GP32 won't be competitive that long. The only reason GP32 has the following it has is because it's open source and has emus/homebrew stuff. The Helix looks like it will also be open source for example, and it will probably be a better emu device. Maybe... :)

    New Video: fNES Beta!

He wrote "Super Mario Brothers 3 ran at approximately 75%." I watched the video, and it looks good. I'm hoping for better speed and compatability someday, but for a first beta release this will be wonderful. I know I sound ungrateful, but I'm not really. It's just that I'm kinda spoiled by...

Will Game Park release a new portable?

Just wondering... With all these new portables coming along (PSP, N-Gheyge, Helix etc.) I have to think Game Park might feel some pressure to update the GP32. They don't have a huge customer base, but they do seem to have a loyal one. I suspect most GP32 owners would quickly buy a "bigger...

    Is this normal for SMC's?

How long does it take you to save in Doom on a 128MB SMC? Or SMS32? I'll try a reformat later. I also have a second 128MB card that I haven't even used yet to test. :)

    Is this normal for SMC's?

Is it normal for a large SMC (128MB) to take a long time to save data? Examples, in Doom saving takes like ten seconds. In SMS32 saving (when you return to menu) takes like 10 seconds. On my 32MB SMC it was pretty fast. Maybe a second or two. Is it normal? I'm thinking maybe it's due to the...

    A theory

Yeah, I agree. Honestly, I've been researching the heck outta that new Tapwave Helix, and it's looking really good to me. Depending on several variables, it could be my next game system. It's just as open to development as any Palm, which is pretty open right? So it'd have big commercial games...

    A theory

Erm... that's the point. They'd want to stick their Pokemon carts in the SMC slot. Get it?

    A theory

LOL! Ya know, after reading the GameFAQs GBA board on occasion, I could just imagine those same kids trying to use GP32... It'd be SCARY! =P Seriously, it's just not designed to be a mainstream game system. Many people would never get past setting it up, and imagine those poor 7 year olds who...

    Turbo Buttons?

Yet another idea already mentioned in the "Suggestions" thread on this board weeks ago. Black _does_ read this board, so it's kinda silly to be posting the same stuff over and over...

    PC Engine CD Game?

I made this suggestion a while ago (see my suggestions thread). It's very possible, just depends on whether Black is in the mood or not. Music would likely be sacrificed tho, due to storage and CPU speed limitations on GP32. But still, it'd be amazing. And some people here really should to...

    fNes32 WIP

Nice! If this turns out as good as it sounds, then PocketNES for GBA could be unseated as my favorite NES emu. Maybe. :)

    Has GPengine stopped development?

It can be left in, but it should have a prompt to let the user back out in case they accidentally were trying to change brightness or frameskip instead. Also, if Black can optimize it enough, you may not need more than 133Mhz.

Speakers are the wrong way around.

I always use headphones, well usually, so I never even knew the speakers were wired wrong. There's no excuse for such manufacturing flaws. They do an awful job installing FLU's too. Seems like almost all have dust under the screen. Mine sure does. At least everything else is great about it.
