    Pygame Framerates and HWSURFACE?

I've tested it, and Notaz's updated SDL improves the framerates, but only moderately (BSA plays somewhat more smoothly). It seems we still lack hardware acceleration, which is where the largest speedups will come from. Notaz's SDL doesn't change the output from Mash's data in post 3.

    PyGame

When I get around to it, I'll post a HWSURFACE demo that reports framerate differences with the option on and off. Though Will McGugan's OpenGL Test might be useful in the mean time along with his SubPixel Blitter Typing on my Panda, so forgive the grammar.

    PyGame

Yeah, the Robohell source isn't particularly optimized, and spends most of its time in display.flip and collision processing logic, at least that's what the version I profiled a while back did anyway. Richiz did an awesome job writing a game from scratch, but could probably get a major speedup...

    PyGame

I think I'm really the only person tracking this, and I'm tracking it sloooowwwwly (work + RL = fewer hours for hacking than I'd like - I'm currently trying to PND up BZFlag). Presumably, loading Notaz's Updated SDL should make Pygame fly, but I keep forgetting about testing it. But yeah, if...

    Some PNDs don't open

Outside of throwing it down a set of stairs, it's really REALLY hard to unfixably break your Pandora. I have three steps to solving weird PND issues that seem to work pretty well: 0. Make sure your Pandora is upgraded to the latest officially released Hotfix. 1. Restart the Pandora and try...

    PSX4Droid pulled from Market!

Another random point: If someone can prove that the app was pulled because of the Xperia Play, that might (very VERY arguably) run afoul of the FCC's really limited net-neutrality rules which prevent service providers from prohibiting services that they otherwise offer. You could make the...

    PSX4Droid pulled from Market!

Doubtful, that would've been all over the news (you remember the "Oh Noes! Android must be GPLed along with Angry Birds!!!" BS we had last week). Furthermore, the folks at gpl-violations.org would've given him plenty of time to come into compliance before sending the squash request to Google...

    Zelda classic game

Try Fn+Q (for "Escape"), or, if you're running the MiniMenu, just hit the Pandora button. It looks like a cube's outline, sorta.

    Release public beta test

My vote is for repo.openpandora.org. I like the sound of r.o.o. Also, I PMed you a bug.

    Pokitfoxx's Questions

7b. OMMPC is probably about as easy as you can get. It's a music server that's controlled by a GUI client. In effect: you start the music program and tell it what to play. Then you can quit the app and let it run in the background, saving CPU + RAM. You can even run other games in the...

    Befriended by Nintendo

If nothing else, he's a great board roster. Also, to remove him as a friend, you need to go to his profile page and click the "Remove me as a friend" link (under his profile pic).

Can't Send Files to Pandora via Bluetooth?

Looking into the Bluetooth documentation, I think we might be missing the OBEX utilities in the default install. Haven't had a chance to work very far into it though. I'd appreciate if anybody with time could check into Bluez and OBEX. Feel free to open a tracking bug at bugs.openpandora.org.

After waiting 9 months, I've decided to cave and go for a premium Pandora

    1. Email replies can take up to a week. Jacquelyn's a busy lady. 2. 10 - 12 business days by regular mail (not much over 21 real days). 1 - 2 days if you pay the extra $25 for UPS shipping.

No, it's at least Windows 95, probably 98. Check the icons on the right side of the title bar.

Replicating the functionality of a "Home" key?

Down = Middle Click. Up = Double Click. Don't know how I remember it, but that's what it does.

    Homebrew competition!!

I, unfortunately, won't be able to make the April 1 deadline for my game (at least not as anything remotely related to a finished product), but in lieu of an actual entry, I'd like to point everybody over to my port of the platformer, XEvil.

Replicating the functionality of a "Home" key?

If you mouse to the lower right corner, XFCE has an up-arrow looking thing that, when clicked, shows a list of all the running applications on all workspaces. It's not a home-key, but it's fairly easy to reach, it's just navigating to the lower right corner.

Most unexpected use for your Pandora?

The Pandora is durable and has no moving parts. Combine that with its excellent speaker system (even through headphones) and you've got what I use it for: as a jukebox to hold my workout (fast dance/techno) music when I go running. The best part is that if I get bored and am in range of a...
