    Shipping On The 4Th?

I have to say though I *am* disappointed in craigix - I mean he reads the Daily Mail ???, wtf? not cool, not cool at all :P This was never going to be easy, I say just hang in there and grind out the result.

    Gcc Chroot Cross Compiler

Hi guys, As the pandora release is fast approaching  I am going to set up a chroot cross compile environment for pandoara with gcc (& g++), on x86_64. Its been a year or two since i did this sort of thing (compiled gcc etc), if anyone uses a similar environment, i'd be grateful of...

    Shipping On The 4Th?

I think hand-crafting each case individually out of wood would have been less trouble. Something like this I've still got until hell freezes over before i cancel, so its still looking good for me too.

    Music Generator

Fair enough. Its just not what I do. If performance is important I find it useful to know exactly what is going on in your datatypes, Its rare that you cant make domain specific optimizations vs these generalized datatypes. I rarely use std even in OO code. OO isn't always a good idea and C can...

    Music Generator

The program is c++, but the code isn't really c++ style. This isn't necessarily *bad*, but if this is the way you want to structure your code, I'd just use C. I use C++ when i feel Object Orientation has some sort of benefit, there is none of that in the code design.

    Debian/ubuntu Programs?

they are both *distributions* of linux, not offshoots. they are essentially the same OS in different clothing, and as such are compatible. HOWEVER, OS distribution (ie. verisions of linux) is not the main issue - its architecture. I suggest you check if the package is available for the ARM...

Is Gp2X Wiz The Final Seal For The Gp2X Model Series?

Jeez... lighten up guys. I make fun of my relatives all the time... where's the harm? The way I see it, there isn't any *real* grievances with the GPH or the Wiz. The main complaint with the Wiz, is simply that it doesn't quite live up to the sequel to gp32 machine the folk here wished for. I...

Using Pandora To Rip Movie & Music Discs And Encode Them

You obviously havn't experienced the raw pleasure you get from hitting the stubborn git of a screw in with a hammer. (usually after throwing the ill-fitting screwdriver accross the room in disgust) It certainly puts a smile on my face.

Is Gp2X Wiz The Final Seal For The Gp2X Model Series?

Pandora: some girl who (according to the oil paintings) likes to get naked. Wiz: another word for piss. (usage: "Im just taking a Wiz") I hope that clarifys things.

    God's Great Banana Skin

reminds me of titus the fox - ok characters are different, and the guitar bit is weird, but the movement feels the same to me. *edit - ignore me, i looked up titus on youtube - its nothing like it. I was going by my original memory from 1992 - its obviously not reliable.

Return Values, Exceptions And Special Cases

It wasn't clear from your first post that you accepted that there was case for handling special cases (or whatever) from within the function. your second post (further down) makes it very clear that you acknowledge these situations. Thats all i was talking about by the 'div(n,0)' crack. As i...

Return Values, Exceptions And Special Cases

This isn't a very strong argument *on its own*. Its basically 'we can write this nicer' , unfortunately you can only write it (arguably) nicer by added more syntactic complexity to the language. (ie. creating another 'thing' for programmers to get their head around.) You certainly arn't the...

    Programming On Pandora

I disagree, sure it might be slightly limiting, but compared to writing programs on a micro computer it can be made much more user friendly. And as many here can testify 'a ten year old can do it'. I would like gcc on the pandora. Its good point the python is probably the main beginner tutorial...

    Shipping On The 4Th?

I thought we lived in like 10 dimensions? (or perhaps 26?) i dunno string theory's not my strong point, but i think the fourth one is time, and the other 6 are really thin so you don't notice em. Anyway i sent a parcel to China by airmail in February, and it still hasn't arrived... i think we...

    Linux/android Tablet Made In Germany

I don't really understand why everyone is interested in the ipad (except perhaps, "apple makes it and its shiny". i remember using a tablet pc about 6 or 7 years ago (for work) so its hardly something new. I wasn't impressed then, and i'm not impressed now. whats so great about a laptop with no...

    Programmer Magician Wanted

I suggest python. You can get good results quickly, i think thats very important for new programmers. Dont worry about it too much, just pick one and stay with it. C++ is a great choice too, BUT beginners can find it very difficult, and it can take much more work and you may be dissapointed...

    Another Little Sdl Question

Im in exactly the same boat (SDL, without opengl). I was going to post a similar question (about using dga/fullscreen and double buffering) but then i thought for now its better to stick with SDL_SWSURFACE (compiling for my x86-64 pc) trying to make it run as well as possible that way. I'm...
