    Silk Screen Poll

Something ocurred to me. It's a bit of a double-edged sword. What about in the odd chance that future batches have minor hardware tweaks that, albeit minor, might make the 1st batch somewhat less desireable for resale? A Pandora with the "First Batch" indication might be less desireable to...

    Dirty Secret

Last year, when my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas I said I already bought my own gift. And I proceeded to describe the state of the project. Needless to say, the rolling of her eyes told me I should have just shut up and asked for a sweater.

When Is The Real Release Date...

The pandora will NEVER be released!!! See what you've done, now, Pope Gregory XIII? </sarcasm>

    Another 8000 Nubs To Go.

I suppose once batch 2 is 50% (or insert arbitrary % here amounting to when they think time_to_batch_sold_out <= lead_time_for_nubs) sold, they can start sourcing parts from batch 3 ahead of time, while batch 2 still sells. I don't think it has to be a dead 7 months between every batch.

Will We All Have Our Pandora's By Xmas?

Cake??? I thought it was supposed to be a sandwich? (source: http://forum.openhan...c.php?f=2&t=924 ) Looks like there will be another round of disappointed drop-outs. ;-)

Is It Possible To Use Skype On Pandora?

That's even more ahead of the curve than I thought it was. Promising.

Is It Possible To Use Skype On Pandora?

Not until a port of Skype exists for the ARM processor (let alone Linux). Please refer to this thread http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/49320-lifecasting-from-the-pandora/page__view__findpost__p__751141 and ensuing discussion. Time to close this one.

    Did You Get This Newsletter?!

The production costs would have to be paid up-front, like the first batch was, correct? Obviously, manufacturing of the second batch's PCBs and purchasing the LCDs requires money. Which would mean that the 2nd batch would have to be pre-orders as well, no? That would be, unless a bank loan...

    Pandora Concept Interface

The flexibility of it all is where everyone wins. Using your finger as a mouse pointer is pretty intuitive. Others may prefer controlling a pointer with the analog nubs. Other still may prefer simply cycling through clickable objects with the D-pad, much like a DVD player, or even tab around...

    Pandora Concept Interface

Love it. As a matter of fact, this makes me tingle more than what I've seen so far. I want something simple, something fast (not as in performance speed, but as in minimal interaction to get from A to B ). I have to take another peek at what the latest contender for the UI is again. Was it...

    Picture Of The Final Keymat?

Actually, it's the rubber, not the epoxy that is being made 20% softer, so that the keys are that much easier to depress and less fatiguing after extended periods of play. http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/49602-disappointed-again/page__view__findpost__p__756704 It is a bit...

By The End Of The Year?

Yes, but after everyone's excitement about their shiny new iPods, iPhones, PSPs turns to every day monotony, you'll be the envy of everyonethe day your Pandora arrives.

    A/v Cables Have Arrived!

Very nice. The kind of video test I'd also like to see is one where the SVideo output was directly captured, rather than recorded via another camera. Would that be possible?

    A/v Cables Have Arrived!

When I added a cable to my existing pre-order, 6 months later, they let me pay for the cable via paypal.

Discussion About Additions To The Pnd Format

How difficult would it be to clean up and go back to 100% factory content, with no trash files for old applications no longer in use? But those "lost" settings went with the programs that are also on the SD card. If the application disappears then so do its settings. I despise seeing years...

Discussion About Additions To The Pnd Format

Yes, but an SD card is expendable. It fries, you get a new one. You did keep a backup of all your favorite PNDs, right? Whereas the NAND is not easily replaceable in the Pandora. It fries, you need a new Pandora. If you make the NAND read-only, and all save data, settings, programs...

Discussion About Additions To The Pnd Format

The issue I have with that is that if you try-then-delete a lot of software, you're going to end up with lots of symlinks over the years, and who knows what virtual spaghetti that could turn into. I would err on the side of keeping NAND read-only, unless a special kind of PND comes around whose...
