Any Jaguar Fans In The House?

The code is basically the GP2X version with the MagicEyes MMSP2 chip code ripped out, the safe-but-slow Jag RISC processor emulation code compiled in, and the framebuffer code colouring in four Pandora pixels for every one Jaguar pixel (instead of the 1:1 ratio on the GP2X). So basically, if...

Any Jaguar Fans In The House?

This afternoon I did a very quick port of the GP2X version of the T2K Jaguar emulator to the Pandora. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe_R787gREc Things to bear in mind: * It's not optimised for the Pandora at all. * There's no sound (yet). * There's no frame rate lock (hence the occasional...

    Beagleboard Demo

Wow, it's really great to see that! I bet something more lightweight than Gnome (XFCE, say) would really fly! B)

What Will You Do With Your Zodiac When

I still use my Zodiac as a portable media player sometimes. People still often assume it's something new that's just come out, and ask me about it. :)

    The Gp2x Is Dead!

That'll be entirely up to the program you're using.

    The Gp2x Is Dead!

The Pollux looks okay. 1x 533MHz ARM926EJ core is probably a little bit more useful than 2x 260MHz ARM 920T/940T cores. Easier to exploit under Linux, anyway. The 3D accelerator would be nice to have (providing it works properly and is easy to program) but from what little information is given...

    The Gp2x Is Dead!

I'd really like to see a GP2X mini too! It'd make a great compliment to the Pandora - something you could keep in your pocket to kill a few minutes while you're waiting for a bus and to use as an MP3 player when you're out for a walk or a run. The JXD-301's form factor would be about right -...

    The Gp2x Is Dead!

The GP2X was a very important evolutionary step for the homebrew console community, but I don't see its passing as a disaster. Most of the programs made for the GP2X weren't written straight onto the metal, they're mostly Linux + SDL apps that could be ported to other Linux-based platforms...

Pandora Can I Install On Pandora Other Operating Systems?

I'm quite excited about Symbian being open sourced, it's an interesting little operating system. The bit that worries me is the qualifier that they add, "within two years". It might be a bit old hat by then.

    Developer Fund

I think bounties are the way ahead if there's going to be a centralised pot of reward money that people chip in to. If you try to pay people after the fact it's going to cause loads of controversy and upset - somebody's always going to feel they've been treated unfairly. On the other hand...

A Model Code In The Firmware?

Perhaps we could have a cookie jar, like the later Ataris had? There was a very simple API in the ROM code that allowed you to read "cookies" one by one. Each cookie told you something about the machine; what revision the ROM was, if the PCM sound chip was fitted, if the blitter was fitted, etc...

What Will You Do With Your Gp2x?

I'll still do some programming for it. It's a more challenging platform to code for because it has much less horsepower than a Pandora (but still considerably more than a GBA).

    Center Click Vs More Travel

I hate centre-click; it jogs whatever I'm controlling when I mash down the stick, usually resulting in a missed shot. I much prefer separate analogue + fire buttons.
