Why Is The Dingoo The Pmp Getting The Attention?

For me it fixes pretty much all of the problems with previous handhelds. It's slim, light, has a good screen, really nice controls, decent builtin firmware, easy to use TV out, long battery life, quite a fast processor, USB file transfer and recharging, and it's a proper homebrew-friendly open...

Why Does Development Appear So Limited?

There's been an SDK since the start, though it took a few weeks for the community to get to grips with it. Programming on the Dingoo isn't removed from the hardware, you can draw straight onto the framebuffer and read button states directly if you want. There's a comprehensive games framework...

Dingoo Help Me Program For The A320

I'll have to have a dig into this some time. One of the reasons for me getting a Dingoo (apart from it being an excellent handheld in its own right) was to brush up on my MIPS skills, so it'd be interesting to know about this.

    Mame/amiga/atari 4 Dingoo Eta?

I don't really see what Linux would bring to a device like the A320. The existing operating system already supports all of the hardware and boots pretty much instantly. With some work SDL might be made to sit on top of S2D - but I'm not volunteering to do it! :D

    Dingoo Serial Console Access Mod

Good work there bb! LCM_MOUDLE_ILI9325 is very interesting... What voltage levels are you getting at the tx and rx pads? 3.3V, 5V, proper RS232, something else?

Dingoo Help Me Program For The A320

No, I'm just using the standard link.xn out of the SDK... I don't think I've ever come across that section type before, in fact. That's very interesting. Perhaps .app files are crunched? So did your output .app run in the end, then?

Dingoo Help Me Program For The A320

Blimey, egcs is ancient! I'm just using the GNU tools off Ingenic's ftp site, which are: mipsel-linux-gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 mipsel-linux-g++ (GCC) 4.1.2 GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.18 GNU objcopy (GNU Binutils) 2.18 You don't have to install them as such, just plonk 'em in a directory somewhere and add...

Dingoo Help Me Program For The A320

I did manage to build seagal's Centipede emulator under Linux a few weeks ago. I used the mipsel-linux version of the GNU compiler + tools from Ingenic's ftp site. I used Dingoo's SDK pretty much as-is, and tweaked the makefiles and some of the source files in seagal's Centipede source tree...

    Black Dingoos Now At Dealextreme

I haven't measured it, but easily that I would say (I mainly use the GBA emulator). Charging is easy: just plug it into a computer's USB socket. Now, can I justify buying a black one given that I've already got one in white...?

Leapfrog Didj For Newb Hacker Or Not?

The GBA's an ARM-based system and has quite a nice 2D graphics accelerator (does tiled backgrounds, sprites etc, so you don't have to write your own routines for that) and a decent sound chip. Plenty for a first foray into handheld console hacking! Actually, I think I saw a basic one on DX the...

Leapfrog Didj For Newb Hacker Or Not?

I'd recommend getting a cheap second-hand Gameboy Advance/SP/Micro off ebay. It's a very nice system to program for. There's tons and tons of documentation and example code on the web, you can download all of the tools you need for free, and flash carts for it are very cheap now. For soldering...

    Gemei A320

Meanwhile, seagal has posted the source to the A320 version of his Centipede emulator - and I've managed to get it to build under Linux! :D I had to cheat slightly by using WINE to run the little converter program that takes the binary and converts it into a .app (I'll have to work out what...

Perhaps I've been lucky with my A320's screen or unlucky with my JXD-301's screen?

When Is The Dingoo A320 Sub Forum Being Added?

I'm aiming slightly lower to start with. Like making one pixel change colour, or something. :) Dunno, the subforums there tend to be more activity-based rather than platform-based...

When Is The Dingoo A320 Sub Forum Being Added?

I am a developer, I have a Dingoo A320, I'm beginning to get an inkling of how to make an A320 app... but it'd be a lot easier if there was somewhere where I could discuss it with other devs, share tips and tricks, etc.

    Gemei A320

I find the A320's screen to be very good! It's very similar to the JXD-301's screen, which I remember everyone was very impressed with only a year ago.

When Is The Dingoo A320 Sub Forum Being Added?

Many thanks for that, A600! I haven't even succeeded in connecting to the Ingenic FTP site yet, never mind downloaded anything. :-)

The screen turns off after a set amount of time (configurable in the menu) and the power switch functions as a hold button if you slide it the other way. Best of all, it plays FLACs out of the box. :)

    240*320 Resolution

Ah, like they'd mapped the framebuffer to a couple of triangles or a quad to do the scaling (even though it's 1:1) instead of streaming the framebuffer to the display directly? I suppose it could be a hardware issue, then, if the only way to get the chipset to display a 2D framebuffer is to...

    240*320 Resolution

This is the weirdest screen fault I've ever heard of! I mean, if it was a vertical line or a horizontal line that would be one thing, but a precise diagonal line corner-to-corner? That involves every row and every column in a very precise timing sequence. That's just mad!
