    Librem 5 phone by Purism

You will want to look at multi-microphone noise suppression if you are attempting to make a phone. Otherwise the sound quality on the call will be bad.

    Video editing software...

Virtualdub is out, it is windows only, and I run Linux. The basic problem I am trying to solve is that my camera, a Sony DSC-RX100 has some nasty habits regarding video. In spite of using EXFAT file system on the SD cards, the camera breaks the videos into 2.1 GB files. Also, to avoid taxes...

    Video editing software...

Can you recommend some open source video editing software which will allow me to cut & splice video without re-encoding the video? Every tool I've tried seems to want to re-compress the video to a different resolution and compression level than the original.

I wish you could feel things through the internet!

Rolling the cable reduces the amount of flex of the cable by the number of turns in the roll. I don't worry about the center of EDs cable where the traces are parallel to the roll, but I don't see how this design avoids flexing the sections of the cable where the traces are curved. I fear that...

Quite a bit for you to read!

There are versions of these parts that do level translation between 5V and 3.3V (I've not seen one what goes down to 1.8V though). Presumably the port on the processor can directly connect to eMMC or an SD card, so level translation should not be necessary. If you do need level translation on...

Quite a bit for you to read!

Have a look at this part: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/texas-instruments/SN74CBT3383DBQR/296-6443-1-ND/377951 If this one isn't perfect, there are a whole series of bus switch type parts from several manufacturers. These parts act as solid state relays with near zero delay, and about...

    Last known issue fixed

Does the Pyra have any means of measuring the input voltage? If so, it could warn us that we have a shitty cable.

    Last known issue fixed

I hope that the charging port does not try to draw 2A from a standard USB port. For standard USB ports, you are not supposed to draw more that 100 mA without negotiating. Once you negotiate, you are allowed to draw 500 mA. USB 3 extends that to 900mA. Chargers identify themselves with resistors...

    Current statistics and some predictions

Please add the milestones to your live statistics graph, along with the dates you plan to make decisions. I am very reluctant to preorder anything after the Pandora fiasco, but I might be persuaded if it was close to a milestone and close to a decision time to help push it to the next level. I'd...

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

I have it working again. First, I changed the comment in rfcomm.conf to match the wiki "GPS". It seems the ConBTGPS is looking for this string. The error message changed to something like "The MAC address is in the wrong format". Well, my string looked exactly like the comment above, but I...

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

Damn. Updated my Pandora again, and it wiped out my rfcomm.conf file. I recreated it and "sudo rfcomm connect 0" connects to the GPS and works, but when I run ConBTGPS I get the error "No appropriate MAC address found in /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf!" Any suggestions?

    An almost naked Pyra

Be careful about using the SD card slots as heat sinks. I have had perfectly working SD cards get very warm all by themselves.

    [TESTED]: GPS on Pandora

I have been using a bluetooth GPS with Navit for a while now, and it comes with its own set of problems. The good: Navit works with offline copies of open street maps, so you can download a set of maps that covers your area of interest and not need wifi enabled. The bad: One must use the command...

    Buetooth DUN vs. suspend

I have found that it is impossible to connect to my bluetooth GPS after the Pandora has been suspended/hibernated, and I must disable then re-enable bluetooth before it will work again. I don't need to manually unload any modules though.

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

This worked, Thank you. "hcitool scan" showed the mac address of the GPS. I uncommented the lines in rfcomm.conf, changed the mac address and description. ran "sudo rfcomm connect 0" and successfully got a connection. CTL-C to exit, close the terminal window. Ran the...

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

The device in question is QSTAZ 818XT. The only control is a 3 position power switch which has the positions "OFF", "1Hz", and "10 Hz". I believe this device always powers on in pairing mode.

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

Yes, bluetooth was enabled. I looked at rfcomm.conf, its content is entirely commented out. The content is an example with a mac address (or bluetooth equivalent) I looked at the GPS, but could not find the mac address written on the label. I tried doing a device search, but it just says...

SuperZaxxon v1.73 breaks bluetooth GPS connection

I updated to SuperZaxxon v1.73 a few days ago. Yesterday, I tried to use my GPS, and failed miserably. After reboot, I have always had to run the command "sudo rfcomm connect 0" in a terminal before bluetooth will connect to anything. Now I get an error message "Can't find a config entry...
