    Mame Outdated?

Emulators are legal for what I know, romset aren't. From their FAQ: GP2x Wiz supports following emulators: MAME, PS1, CPS1, CPS2, MSX, Atari, Famicom, PCengine, Vectrex, Final Burn, Dos Box, Game Boy, Neo Geo, Wonderswan, Super Famicom, Onscripter, Mega Drive, Master System, ZX Spectrum, etc...

    Mame Outdated?

Let's hope for the better, anyway a port is not like write everything from scratch so I would have liked a better support from GPH. The fact is that they do not sell it 'for emulation', they sell it for a generic 'arcade games' (that one would eventually buy from them). They pretend that people...

I Am On The Bleeding Edge Of Decisions

Probably there were problem with suppliers and some parts of the hardware wasn't stable as expected (like the OLED screen that must have been a hole in the pocket in repair costs). Anyway it's just a moderate update of the previous console and the older is still supported by their site (new...

    Mame Outdated?

Are you referring to this? 13. TO BE IMPROVED ------------------ - Use second GP2X processor. - Future HH development kit without Linux?. - Improve sound. - Improve speed. - Update romsets to actual MAME ones, or update MAME version to actual one. - Add support to more games. It seems outdated...

    Mame Outdated?

It seems that the port is version 0.37 out there is 0.138... isn't that a problem for newer romset and new games? Why no one has not ported a more recent version?

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

    1. I know that they have the same SoC, as I know that those emulators are more optimizable like 'virtually everything'. 2. Same CPU architecture but have more juice, if one feature got trashed for the lack of processing power it could eventually be implemented with a 2x processing power. It...

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

That was not wise for them, not at all. Probably the emulators ported with ginge aren't well optimized enough since, for what I have understood, they are optimized for the old SoC. Maybe they are optimized if the new SoC is just an increase in MHz over the predecessor. Didn't know about that...

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

But isn't it terrible that the hardware is very similar and in weeks no one ported any emulator to the Caanoo? There is just the MAME from GPH. And Pollux is nearly 3 times more powerful than the SoC inside GP2x, I don't think 'it's just the same hardware'. And don't think the Pandora is so...

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

We need Guru's like you to make it happens. :excl: In Dosbox there are things one could change for optimizing the execution of the emulator. One could exclude double buffering, could choose vga or ega (it goes until VESA), could set frameskip, could set specifically a 386 cpu to emulate (it...

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

The thing is that there is so much good stuff for 386 that would be wonderful to play, I don't like much the 286 era.. even Monkey Island, Doom or Rise of the Triad, required a 386. This is the tipical 286 game: http://www.angelfire.com/games3/classicgames/cheats/keen1_3/ Would be great to...

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

Yes, it was a typo. It's discouraging to know that a 286 isn't emulated well... For what I know a 286 with VGA is simpler to emulate than an Amiga (perhaps the 286 is a more complex CPU than a 68000 but the OCS chipset must have been so much more complex than the VGA). :(

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

I would not like to include them because they are 'guaranteed', since their hardware isn't complex enough to pose a problem for the SoC inside the two consoles. Anyway if you think it could be useful for newbies we could add them.

    Emulators, From Average To Excellent.

I would like to know what do you think about emulators on Wiz/Caanoo. I think it would be good for newbies to understand what to expect from these two consoles. The emulators are SNES, Mega Drive, MAME, Neo-Geo, Super Nintendo, DOS, Amiga, and PlayStation. Rating will be AVERAGE, GOOD, VERY...

Caanoo - The New Gph Console?

It's difficult to have a 'Quality Control' (or engineers, or software developers and so on..) like Nintendo or Sony... GPH is a (very?) small company and I'm sure most people working there do it not for passion but for 'having a job'. They are not the most brilliant brains on the planet so I...

    Dos Emulation On Wiz/caanoo

Hi guys, I'm new here. I would like to know what is the folders structure for Dosbox to run properly on the Wiz/Caanoo, but more importantly, does it accept ISO, zipped files or just plain folders structure like in the PC? I haven't found any talking about DOS gaming here. Hope the Caanoo will...
