Interest In Commercial Games Or Free Only?

Software in general is becoming trapped in a neverending spiral of upgrade or else. Witness Microsofts relentless releases of OS upgrades, patches and hotfixes. There are relatively minor enhancements to the OS, but they seem to double the cost with every release, terminating support for the...

    Console Or Portable?

Ideally I'd like something larger than a hand-held but smaller than a laptop. WiFi, touchscreen, HDD, stereo sound and capable of CAD looks like I'll be waiting a while . . . :P

    Windows 98?

Thread on GP2X Development A quick read on this thread shows that actual development (on Windows 98 systems) for the GP2X may not be an easy task as the SDK about to be released may not work so well with 98. Just a heads up :( EDIT: just because my brain misfired. . . ;)

GP2X Gp2x And Interface And Other Standards

Sounds like we will have a few other standards to sort out as well. Things like file extensions, ie what to use to indicate support libraries, data files, save games etc. Also a good idea would be to store the main executable (the *.gpe) in one location with all support/data/saves in a...

GP2X Developing For Gp2x Via Windows

Thanks, will have to do something else for the laptop solution . . . Next silly question, when we compile executables for the GP2X, do we have to chmod 777 blah blah on the output file before transfer? B)

GP2X Developing For Gp2x Via Windows

I hate to be the one to ask the stupid question, But here goes .... Which flavor of windows . . . DOS-based or NT? Reason I ask - I have an overpowered desktop running XP SP2, but for mobility I have an underpowered Compaq running 98SE (helps for fast coding at work) I'm sure some...

    Curious,

@DaveC - Unix/Linux had them first - symbolic links ln -sf {name of link} {actual path of linked item} @Radek - - WE are the 3rd party hence the thread However, reading some of the threads from the more advanced devs, it is starting to look like we are eventually going to move to a community...

    GP2X N00b Ide Question

A nice clean IDE with Mingw for Win32 platform is Dev-C++ from here - with a little tweaking this easily cross-compiles to different platforms. In Linux Eclipse or Kdevelop are fairly popular as Designed-From-Ground-Up IDEs Some use vi or emacs (they are highly customizable to be...

    Curious,

If Canada does they've kept it a secret from me . . . Uhm, what is a post hatch? @woogal - Sounds like a plan if all follow. Do you have any info on how the system handles permissions? ie is the system always in SU?

    Distraction From Delay Of Gp2x

A lot of people, myself included, are getting antsy over the delays in actually receiving the GP2X. Something that could slow the inevitable posts of 'when will it ship' could be to have GPH have available for download the SDK. Setting up the compiler, and {insert your favourite IDE/text editor...

    Curious,

Some sort of standard should be agreed upon before a lot of apps / games start appearing, each of which requiring a different directory structure. ie Joe Blow releases PongMania, which requires sprites to be located in /mnt/sd/games/datawhile Jane Dow releases SkipMaster Deluxe, which places...

    Gp32 On Gp2x?

For Perl and other scripting languages to work correctly, they require external modules and shell extensions to be installed. IIRC the area that we have for semi permanent storage is the NAND flash area which totals 64 MB, some of which is already occupied by the kernel, config scripts, libc...

    Shadow Warrior: A Request

@auritribe - Programming is an odd thing, some people take to it immediately, while others have to work extremely hard to make any headway at it. I can see why reaper sent you links to tutorial sites, they are commonly used by many to learn to program - by those who take to it easily. It...

    Contacting Developers...

Like most people getting the GP2X, I like playing games wether they are emulated , homebrew etc. In particular, I like RPGs. However we could also use some applications. PDF software, Rich text file editors soft screen keyboards, appointment software etc. Personally I'm going to work on...
