    Microsoft XBOX ONE

Microsoft only started looking to hire hardware developers for the new xbox in March: http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/08/microsoft-goes-on-a-hiring-spree-for-new-xbox-hardware-devs-sta/ The same article claims MS has slated the new xbox for after 2015. Any announcement at this point would...

    Hmmmm.... Antivirus? Antimalware?

"Those who don't understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it... poorly." The idea that Windows is targeted more because it is more popular is predicated on the notion that all operating systems are exactly secure as each other, which is an absurd idea. It's just not possible for two complex...

Weird Video Glitch in Linux Mint

Probably... I'm not familiar with Ubuntu/Mint GUI tools. You can check from the command line, you should get an output something like this: $ lsmod | grep nvidia nvidia 10082726 58 i2c_core 23725 1 nvidia If you are already running nvidia, then its possible...

Weird Video Glitch in Linux Mint

Haven't seen exactly that behavior but sounds a lot like a compositing issue, have you tried running with it off? I think Mint uses the "nouveau" driver by default for nvidia cards, it's come a long way but is still pretty crappy for OpenGL acceleration and (I think) still does video decoding...

Problems with some Apps in store / repo

+1 vote for choice. Competition will either make them [repos] stronger or kill them off. Either way we get better solutions.

    Screen Cleaning

Aye, you can make use of whatever you have ready access to. You can even find special "LCD cleaning fluid" at exactly 33% if you look hard enough, but it will cost ya five times as much. It's easier and cheaper to mix it yourself then to find a supplier, unless you have a link to share?

    Hmmmm.... Antivirus? Antimalware?

True that, but unless you leave your pandora running a web or ssh server visible from the internet, I wouldn't worry about it ;)

    Durr...i was away for a while, so batch 2 is a no-go?

So you've already got confirmation for a batch 2 order? Your order still stands, you don't have to pay anything else if you don't want to. If you want to get your unit sooner you can pay the extra and get it in 7 days. Cheap and slow or expensive and fast. Up to you.

    Screen Cleaning

Very close. What you want is common 70% isopropyl mixed 50/50 with distilled water (you do not want the 100% isopropyl for this job, but by-the-by it's great for cleaning CPU's - you can easily get that decanted at a chemist, they have gallons of it). For the love of god don't use a solvent! I...

    What is batch 2?

New customers can just forget about pre-orders and batches. Historical curiosity is all - "Batch 2" was a batch of pre-orders that was to start manufacture after the first batch of pre-orders was complete. The pre-orders were supposed to get the project off the ground to allow normal production...

    Steam on Pandora?

Steam for iOS/Android isn't surprising - They already have the publishing area of the business down, they just need to develop one app to steal Apple/Google's cut of game sales. But IF they do this it will be a different distribution channel to normal Steam. Want Angry Birds? Sure! Want...

    New cables, more boards (2011-04-15)

Well, if you got the same email I did, it wasn't exactly a guarantee: But I do agree with your point (I think). OPT got my order after they contacted me and raised my expectations. Those expectations have not been met, and I would have expected at least the same level of contact from OPT that I...

Microsoft shows full windows for Arm powered devices

Paranoia about how much the proprietary guys might lock down their systems is a little misplaced IMO. They are already closed systems, we already have better alternatives, and we will continue to have free platforms in the future. If they want to go down this path they can go pound sand. With...
