    Old nubs and refurbished boards

I better start with explaining my thought process: Production is currently halted, waiting for *new nubs* I assume: OPT by now has a stash of RMAed boards waiting for repairs => *new nubs* I assume: there is still a stock of *old nubs* that won't be used because the failure rate is too...

    Multitouch pad for the Pandora.

It's just analog TV-out with my experience coming from old ati/nvidia cards i would say don't expect any better then the equivalent of a 800x600 desktop although that is higher then pandora's 800x480

    And so they double... (2010-09-30)

Just in case, if you do have units you do not want to ship with a warranty, i'll be voiding my warranty within 48h anyway. EDIT: I would keep it as is, maybe PAY you somewhere in 2011 for new nubs, it's an offer i'd like to make.

    Xubuntu/Ubuntu 10.10

I don't game on these systems, i have a win 7 pc for that ;-) Also Gnome/KDE is way to much bling, I like to keep it simple with Xubuntu, 10.10 is rock solid for me i have it running on 2 laptops now.

    Is porting really that easy?

if gnu gcc compiles it, i am happy

    The 1ghz overclock

I intend to use every dirty warranty voiding trick to go beyond the speed limit. 1.2x Ghz *should* be possible. Unlike many people here, i have trouble attaching emotional value to a piece of silicon. before you ask: yes this is a manhood measuring contest  yes i have destroyed...

    Is porting really that easy?

GTK uses an object oriented pattern in C, it's called GObject. Then there is a *real C++* layer wrapped around that for people that want a cleaner C++ interface Theres also wrappers verry similar for every language you can imagine. however, when you use C++ you could choose between the C...

Some Noob Question - 2nd Batch

No it's *old*, as you said other phones have faster hardware now. However it is the most *open*. It runs a real linux => Maemo. It has XTerm installed out of the box. You use apt-get to install stuff. the others run android, in my opinion that's fake linux with fake java on top. Trying too...

Some Noob Question - 2nd Batch

yes, same hardware, both run linux The funny thing is: a second hand pandora will cost as much as a new N900 (at the moment, on ebay) I wanted an N900, but it was just too expensive for me. I bought a cheaper nokia

Some Noob Question - 2nd Batch

I was talking about that plastic thingie that slides over the keyboard to give you "game controls" the keyboard itself is useless for emulators, even for nes EDIT: the game gripper: https://www.youtube.com/embed/p9D8cedGr30?feature=oembed

Some Noob Question - 2nd Batch

If you need a phone, buy the N900. It costs twice as much for the same OMAP cpu/chipset and it doesn't have dedicated gaming buttons. It does have a cheap piece of plastic to slide over the keyboard, they say it's good enough to do nes games.

    SD Cards and speed

I checked out phoronix test suite once. As far as i understand its writen in php5-cli and builds it's tests from source before running them. so, most of the tests should *just work* when php5 works EDIT: this got me thinking, what do we really care about here? copying files speed A=>A...

Birthplace of a Pandora Board and a power loss (2010-09-16)

I just stumbled on this => http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/sep/19/china-blackouts-energy-efficiency it made me think. Are we having *environment friendly* cases? (read the article to catch the joke)

    Pandora Questions

    1) its a separate purchase, nobody owns one, because they aren't manufactured yet. 2) some people will not agree, but no it doesn't hurt, just play while the adapter is plugged in (being a battery nazi might help your lifespan by a couple of percent, but you need to do that for the entire...
