http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=usb ... nk+charger Actually this sounds like a really good idea for charging cell phones in emergency locations... Saves from having to throw your cell phone in the snow to recharge its batteries.

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Not true. I'm on board with a single forum for open handhelds, and I'm down with that forum being gp32x. I'd even go an extra step and suggest these forums should be taken offline once gp32x is robust again. I don't care what the name of that forum is, or where the server is located, or to a...

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Or the life expectancy reducing stress I'm going through right now... I'm sorry guys, I have some *really* bad shit(tm) going down in real life right now, with no place to vent it. It's not fair I'm doing it here. I'll excuse myself from the internet for a while, I think.

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

*withholds adjectives describing the whole situation* Just how big is this database gzipped anyways? EDIT: I give up on the no snarky comments.... Stupid me for actually caring. Every day GP32x is down the community is haemorrhaging. Every day GP32x is down means lost future Pandora sales...

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Well, it's Tuesday. We're at Blurp Plus 7 Days. I could make a snarky comment, or some constructive criticism, I just don't have the energy for either right now... :(

    Bluetooth Mice

My wife has an Asus EEE running Linux (Ubuntu Jaunty Netbook Remix) and a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse. It takes a little while to figure out how to set up, but once it's working it's pretty rock solid. I'm sure someone will be able to document the process and give help when needed.

This is the reason why you first do a major transition like this on a different temporary server (preferably local) with a copy of the database, make notes as to how it works and fix all the bugs, and *then* do the real thing, hopefully in a few hours (with advertised downtime). Even this late...

Do you play games on systems that were 'before your time'?

I'm in the same boat as the older folks.. I was born in 1974, and I followed the Atari 2600 (Yars Revenge, yes, I owned E.T.) / C64 / Arcade / 286 (Star Control 2!!!) / 386 / x86 / Wii (I have kids now) path. I did play some PS1 (my wife was a video game tester for a time), but not enough to...

    libSDL for Ubuntu... Translucency broken?

This doesn't make sense, as I have my old Slackware libSDL which works just fine with my system. If it was broken across the board I'd totally suspect my NVIDIA video driver.

    libSDL for Ubuntu... Translucency broken?

That would probably mean re-writing the game from scratch. At least the graphic rendering bits. I think I'm going to wait until I have a pandora in my hands before I attempt that kind of optimization. In other news, there's nothing like stripping a program down to it's bare elements to figure...

    libSDL for Ubuntu... Translucency broken?

I followed this up with the folks on the SDL mailing list, and the problem was I didn't have the x11 dev libraries installed (libxext-dev), and SDL was compiling only for framebuffer. Instant segfault. It's all compiled and running and... the home-compiled versions of SDL have the same visual...

    Moving to openhandhelds.org.

As I've said in another post here, I'll be happy to return to gp32x.de once the site's "bus number" is greater than one. http://blog.visionpace.com/2006/05/whats_your_bus_.html

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Re: Blurp. I actually hope the front page is removed, or fixed to reflect posts in a different manner. It's my opinion, but I think it encourages new users to post, rather than search existing forums. Too much attention is brought to the very newest posts, rather than to the forums as a...

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Re: Blurp. Well, something's happening.... The site is non-responsive now. Actually, it's loading, but VERY slowly. It's *generally* not the response you'd get from a site upgrade... Possibly a DOS attack? EDIT: Hmm, new error: A google search for this error goes to a forum with someone...

Blurp - The GP32X Downtime Status Thread

Re: Blurp. I have an idea for a Pandora game now... It's a lot like the old arcade game "Tapper", except the people coming in to the bar are angry gp32x.de users trying to get access, and instead of serving drinks hando's drinking directly from the tap... :P

I'm gonna post this one, even though I'm a bit afraid to with the bile over Chip's post still fresh. I look forward to returning to gp32x.de once the site's bus number* is greater than one. Until then, the system is broken and I'm staying here for my game development. * Bus Number: The...

    Space RTS

I don't mean to be too noobish, and I do need a bit more sleep at the moment, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to see at that link other than a git project stub. What's the project about?
