You are so right about that. I've been programming in JavaScript since the 1990s and it's ridiculous how lazy today's JS programmers are nowadays.
I wish someone would outlaw all these crappy, bloated frameworks as well such as Bootstrap. They suck and are ruining the internet for people in...
Android is extremely inefficient due to the multiple layers between the hardware and the user. Some versions also swap out webpages to conserve memory as well. Ironically, it is Windows which is actually the most efficient smartphone OS currently being sold. It runs great in 512 MB of RAM...
Hi TMG (is that your preferred abbreviation?). I'm glad to hear that about latency. It is a huge annoyance for me as I typically have a minimum of 5 browser tabs and at least three other programs running at all times.
I'm a tv producer and web developer so multitasking is super important to...
This comment is so true. Linux on the desktop used to frequently be annoying. In the past few years, however, the various toolkits started interoperating properly and the hardware support vastly improved.
Imo the only thing missing now is power management. Sometimes it's still flaky...
Hi everyone,
I don't own a Pandora but I do plan on getting a Pyra. As someone who does regularly use a Viliv N5, however, I have been wondering of late how usable the web will be on a Pyra.
On my N5 (and I suspect on the Pandora), JavaScript performance is so slow that I just generally...
Hi ED,
Would it be possible for there to be more than one type of keyboard for the Pyra?
There is a pretty large number of people who have MIDs like the Viliv N5 or the Psion Series 5, Sony Vaio P who love the idea of an ultra portable word processing machine. As it is, the gaming oriented...
Yes, WizardStan, I did like that as well. The U.S. technology press is incredibly biased in favor of Apple products. It's got to be extremely irritating to their competitors.
Hello everyone,
I saw this article about a new phablet by Blackberry that may interest:
http://techcrunch.com/2014/06/19/the-blackberry-passport-is-a-phablet-with-a-hardware-keyboard-that-makes-no-sense-whatsoever/
I won't comment on the device's commercial viability but it is notable that...
I don't think the Pyra needs to be bigger at all. With the swappable (or maybe just user specified at order time) keyboard this would be far more portable than having to lug around a keyboard. That is just like having to do that with a smartphone and Bluetooth keyboard. I like the idea of...
I do like that the gaming controls have been put o good use a typing setting but still, the Pandora has an insufficient number of punctuation keys for fast typing.
Actually, a more traditional keyboard layout and no gaming controls would work well for handheld use given the width of the...
To be honest, I would be fine with no nub at all. I have no problem maximizing the keyboard space by relying on the touch screen and the keyboard for input. Cursor keys would be part of the keyboard and Page keys could be done via Function modifier.
Hello everyone. It's my first post here but I have been a pocket computer user for a very long time and as such have been following the Pandora/Pyra progress for a long time. I'm a professional editor and also a web developer and I've long loved the utility that one can achieve from pocket-sized...
