Upcoming USB specification will make it so that a small, microUSB-sized plug will be capable of being a host.
And I see no real need for full-sized SD slots. MicroSD is the way to go. I have a convertible tablet/laptop and it's quite stable
I use Linux frequently on my Viliv N5 which has a pretty high resolution for its screen size. I just set my GTK font DPI to 170 and everything works fine. The icons can be adjusted as well. The web browsers though are just not very well behaved. Firefox explicitly ignores the GTK font settings...
Everything I'm looking for is not available anywhere else in a single package. And please note also that I was saying about a device after Pyra. I said nothing about modifying the Pyra at all in this thread.
Do you really, honestly think that people wouldn't use a phablet with a keyboard? I'm...
I forgot that one other advantage of this idea is that all the real PCBs would be inside the display side which would mean that we could have more than one different keyboard layout for the unit. This would end the big dispute we're having now about keyboard layouts since there could be more...
The Pyra has a much more limited appeal than my idea. Look at how many Galaxy Notes there have been. Now, even Apple is getting in the act. There's no reason that a device that takes that concept and adds a keyboard/gaming control/battery option couldn't be a good thing, especially if it can run...
I used to use it to keep track of different terminals I had open on other desktops while not losing my place in what I was doing. It was such a great feature, I have no idea why they got rid of it. Certainly made Enlightenment unique.
Basically, I'm looking for a tiny version of the ASUS Transformer Book T90 Chi:
It is a tablet that is very small but has a detachable keyboard that can be adjusted to any angle.
I'm envisioning a phablet-sized version 145 mm (5.781 in) H; 80 mm (3.266 in) W; 9.65 mm (0.380 in) D of this...
How exactly are you running them simultaneously? Are you just running the XFCE panel and E16 as the windowmanager?
I do actually love that peel-down virtual desktop feature of E16. It's annoying to me that rasterman got rid of it for E17. I now no longer use E because it's gone.
Given how laptops that are also tablets are all the rage now in the PC industry, it's kind of shocking to me that no one has tried to do this with a phablet and a keyboard accessory. I think that'd be a great "next" project for ED. Imagine the docks you could have:
Full keyboard with battery...
Perhaps I misread what ED said but all I could find was him saying that he wanted a bar and not a single-width space key.
IMHO the spacebar in the middle is the optimum location because it matches existing keyboard closer and would thus broaden the appeal of the Pyra, potentially leading to...
I'd love to see a mini version of the tablet/laptop convertible idea and do it with a smartphone/palmtop.
I know there's that other convertible thing that was posted on here but it wasn't realistic since they also tried to make it be a laptop.
If we had interchangeable bottom halves you...
I haven't checked into the boards in a while but I was pleased to see this thread and the very helpful videos that ED and TrashyMG have posted. Definitely is looking pretty nice from a performance standpoint!
Thanks, guys!
I think there are too many to keep track of as well.
Since no one seems to be interested in my idea of the space bar in the middle of the bottom row, all I care about is we have a dedicated apostrophe and quotation mark key. That's a huge thing for me and for anyone who does a lot of English...
There's no reason that it couldn't be smoother though.
Plus, Firefox is the only browser that does zoom that way. I find both approaches (whole page and text only) to have advantages.
Oh that's great!
So then the problem remaining for this feature is whether or not code exists somewhere in a regular Linux browser. Based on this page: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16976512/does-linux-support-multi-touch-screen it would appear that Chromium does have the code for it. Not...
Unless I misremember, the screen is only single touch so therefore pinch-to-zoom would not be possible any way.
I'm more concerned that the ability to smoothly scale the page exists at all since so many websites are not responsive and their text is frequently too small on small high-dpi...
That's very good to hear. Now for another question: How feasible do you think it would be to execute a multi-keyboard idea? Would it be possible to have the keyboard be a separate layer that is swappable and not directly connected to the PCB?
That would make creating other alternate keyboards...
I'm talking about like on Android, IE 11, or iOS when you pinch to zoom. It is a complete smooth process as you adjust your fingers' distance from each other.
