at this point, i'd say use the other off the shelf nubs. at some point sacrifices need to be made, otherwise the pandora will become just so much more vaporware, perpetually in development.
the hinge of my ds phat broke a while ago. good thing i had my lite. my lite is a launch version tho, and I haven't had any problems with the hinges.

what you might have mixed up is that kde 4.* is not supported officially yet. kubuntu 8.04 uses kde 3.(something...) and, while kubuntu 8.04 is available with kde 4.*, it's only community support.
