    For Anyone Who Cares...

Sounds great. I like 'for anyone who cares' in the thread title. My guess is that a few people will care!

    Mame Gp2x 1.3

Excellent! And the volume controls work as two fire buttons too! Time for me to go and play Commando!

    GP32 Standard Output ....

You'll need to run sync after your program if you output to file, or you'll end up with an empty file. Or it seems that reading the output in the ebook reader on the gp2x is another answer.

Firmware 1.2 Video Playback Messed Up

I don't think you need to extract the patch at all - just put the .gpu and te .tar.gz on your SD card and run the GPU from the utility menu.

GP2X What Language Do You Think I Should Learn?

It's not impossible, but the simple answer there is no. Do you think you can write an emulator as your 'hello world' program? If you want to learn to program, you need to take the initiative - go and learn things for yourself, starting off with very simple programs, then moving on to simple...

GP2X What Language Do You Think I Should Learn?

You can write computer programs with them. Those programs can do what computer programs do.

GP2X What Language Do You Think I Should Learn?

For a first language that you can develop gp2x stuff in, I'd recommend python or fenix. There's no reason you shouldn't aim to learn C, assembler, etc, but if you don't know how to program anything, I think you should start with high level stuff then build up (maybe that should be down :) ) to...

    Firmware Updater

It's a good idea, but I wouldn't try it! Robster is away on holiday at the moment too, so I don't think you'll get a quick answer from him. With something as risky as a firmware update on a device we already know is easy to brick, I'd hold on until we get a more authoritative answer.

Update .. My Gp2x Has Arrived!

Good news! Now I'm just trying to work out how you're holding the camera in the last shot... :P edit - ah, I see that's not actuallly you.

    Gp2x Sales & Peripherals

Rotating it sounds so simple, but would need them to change the board, which I don't think is very likely. I've been looking inside mine wondering if I could rotate it myself. I don't think it's impossible, but it's definitely not something I'm willing to try!

    2xquake Bug Reports

You can configure the in game keys within the game. I know this because I let someone use my gp2x the other day, and now my quake controls have been reampped all over the place! That still leaves the menu click thing you requested, but that's not so hard to get used to.

    Super Mario Kart

Oops, I was thinking of the DSP-1 chip but ended up saying Super FX.

    Super Mario Kart

SMK uses the Super FX chip, which I guess is why it doesn't seem to work yet. The game loads OK, but then doesn't work once you actually start a race.

    Recommended Case

I'm using a GBA case and it seems to be doing a good job. It's a genuine Nintendo one with a GBA logo, which probably explains why it was so cheap.

Well, I Opened Up My Gp2x

Good to hear you got it back together OK. I took mine apart today, and the batteries decided to go flat (yes, my batteries are sentient :P ) just as I put it back together. I spent a few too many minutes convinced that I'd broken something!

    A Slight Problem...

1024x768? Where'd you get that idea? I've just viewed a view 2048 x 1536 images on mine without problems.

    Drmdx Black Screen

Does other stuff seem to work OK? As far as I know, DrMDx doesn't need anything else to be on the GP2x, so it might be worth downloading it and putting it on the card again. Also, I think I remember someone with this sort of problem finding that it was down to their SD card.

Gp2x Joystick Exposed - The Internals

How plausible would it be to rotate the whole joystick assembly 45 degrees, moving each direction pin around one step? It would take a lot of pin bending to get the pins to match their places on the circuit board, but maybe that's an answer? My first guess is that even if the pins can be bent...

GP2X Gp2x App Shows Black Screen Then Returns To Menu

Yes. But if you look at it in the ebook reader after running your program (and without shutting the gp2x down in the meantime) you'll see that the text file is getting written to. Or you could call /bin/sync from your .GPE after it launches your program to get the same effect. The file gets...

GP2X Gp2x App Shows Black Screen Then Returns To Menu

That's happening because of the way the card is mounted. After running your program, try looking at the output file using the GP2x ebook reader - I think you'll find that it's actually getting created.
