My first impressions of the Pyra

How are the joy sticks? I had a Pandora a long while back and I never liked them. They wanted to spin (the tops) while I moved them. Guess I could have glued them down but it just felt bad even without that issue.

    Dat Price Tag Tho

$500 dollars....?? I hope that is a joke.  Unless it brings something to the table other devices don't, at that price, it will not be successful. A Keyboard and Linux is not it either. How many Pandora's have been sold? There are devices coming out that are taking out some of the Pandora's...

A physical Dummy, Power Usage and MIPI

What price point are we looking at seeing when the Pyra launches?  Like what price are you aiming for?

    Some more of my ideas

So are you going to build a prototype and start a kick starter to fund the project or are you going to take pre-orders to fund the project?

[NOT PYRA] Intel NUC for x86 Pandora

I was looking at the Bay Trail Z3770 SoC.  That one seems like the best possibility for a device close to the size of the Pandora.  The NUCs are huge from what I could tell.

[NOT PYRA] Intel NUC for x86 Pandora

This interest me.  I have been considering putting a device together my self.  I am trying to figure out what parts to go with.  What were you thinking?

    Overview of SoC options

Very true about what cores.  I was thinking more of future proofing and better multitasking but of course the RAM amount will help determine that as well anyways. This is good to hear.  After reading through the Nvidia K1 thread and researching what SoCs are available I think your choice was...

    Overview of SoC options

Just my 2 cents: We need a SoC that can offer all the features we want while not killing the battery.   Pandora 2 needs to have features and benefits to beat out devices like the Nvidia Shield and Archos GamePad 2.  Running a full desktop Linux, having a keyboard, and being somewhat...

PS4 can be connected to XBox One

It has an HDMI Input so it definitely could.  So my PC could plug into an Xbox One.....but I agree not sure how useful this would be.

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

I didn't have them at the same time but I can say the Shield can definitely pump some quality sound into Studio quality headphones pretty good.  My friend has a pair of the studio headphones I think he said they were like 150 dollars and they sound amazing on the Shield. I think the Pandora...

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

Audio Output on the Pandora is really amazing but I think the Shield is better and definitely louder.  I had a Pandora but not at the same time as the Shield or I could have done a direct comparison. They are both really good, but I think the Shield is just a little bit better. Not sure how to...

It says in the first link it is an Mantle is an OPEN API and Nvidia could purpose it for their GPUs.

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

Wow great post.  I agree 100% and I came from owning the Pandora to selling so I could get the Shield....never regret it as I never used it for the computer stuff anyways and technically most of that is better on the Shield except stuff that needs a keyboard.  Compare watching youtube on the...

    Grand Theft Auto V

The Xbox360 is way more powerful than the original.  Where as the Xbox One and PS4 are only marginally better, definitely not fast enough to emulate like the Xbox360 did the Xbox.  They would have had to include the Xbox360 CPU to maintain backwards compatibility which would have raised the...

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

This is how mine is setup and works.  I have a MicroSD card in the Shield.  I made a folder rtcw4a at the root of the drive. I copied the folder named "Main" from my PC install of Return of Castle Wolfenstein into that folder.  In the rtcw4a program on the Shield I put in /storage/sdcard1/rtcw4a...

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

Wow I found that Thread and it looks like the developers of RetroArch have received Shields from Nvidia and are working on perfecting the best Android Emulator for the Shield!

    Nvidia's Project Shield - 'Android & Tegra 4 inside'

You know you can run the games at their original resolution right?  I think you hold UP and Select right after selecting to start the game.  I could be wrong about the button combo.  I think the games look very good on the Shield.  Also for everyone that has a Shield or is thinking about getting...
