    Windows 10

Well, not ALL the data tracking, but some yes. I found an article on it, not sure if it's what you're referring to but I did replicate the search hit to bing just now through Fiddler. Thankfully I never use the search, but aye that is indeed annoying.

    Windows 10

I upgraded two machines (one from 7, one from 8) both had issues with this or that driver. Fresh install on both fixed everything. You can shut off Cortana and the information tracking. I'm not a fan of the mandatory updates, but there's a bit of flex there with scheduling. I still like it...

Retro VGS indiegogo campaign. (changed title)

Thanks for spreading that splash of cold water, mjohansson. At least we know now they have a prototype, and the main engineer seems like he knows what he's doing on his end. However the two high-level problems still remain: the goal amount is way too high, and the purpose of the FPGA is still...

Retro VGS indiegogo campaign. (changed title)

On their page, it says that 2/3 of their goal will be used for contributor rewards. So I guess that means the custom colors + the low unit production costs over $1 million? I do like some aspects of their philosophy, but their marketing vision is worse than a dead horse wearing sunglasses. No...

Disable Post Count in Off-Topic or all together

I understand, some people may give post count undue consideration. My point is that the solution is not therefore to hide the information.

Disable Post Count in Off-Topic or all together

Fair enough. I hadn't noticed the dots before though, neat.

Disable Post Count in Off-Topic or all together

The risk they may be trusted when they shouldn't still remains, post count or not. People trusting the number by itself (on any forum!) would quickly learn their error. That's all hypothetical anyway. The post count wasn't removed because of some weird users building up post counts and then...

Disable Post Count in Off-Topic or all together

Post count is important information for new users unaware of the community veterans. In combination with observation of the rigor and reason of one's posts, you can quickly ascertain which people are trustworthy in their replies. I've not seen this feature disabled on any of the other forums I...

    Ram Poll.

Seems like a fine use test based on average users, but it's important to note that 4GB isn't therefore useless. Been awhile but I'm fairly sure I could come up with some recording/mixing uses in Audacity that would stress it the other way, i.e. short on RAM but plenty of cycles available.

    Ram Poll.

Is there a major difference in power consumption (let's say, 1/2 hour or greater in loss of battery life during average use) between 2GB and 4GB? In whatever decent armchair theory someone can provide. I'd be willing to pay some extra dollars for a high memory ceiling so long as the battery...

    Custom Desktop Resolution

As always, you're the best notaz! Will give this a shot. Thank you. EDIT: And it work as hoped (image top-left-justified, black space on the right and bottom given a smaller x and y). Makes the TV-out much crisper and easier to adjust for me.

    Custom Desktop Resolution

Gentle bump. Anything I can do?

    Custom Desktop Resolution

720 is the maximum width achievable by TV-Out. It's not the aspect ratio I'm attempting so much as simply limiting the width. But the concept extends to height as well; if I have to run 720x400 or somesuch that is fine. I do want to force a true resolution (as opposed to scaling), so if the...

    Custom Desktop Resolution

Respectfully, it's a yes or no question. The reason is immaterial. For academic curiosity's sake.

    Custom Desktop Resolution

I did a bunch of searches, checked the Wiki, and tried modifying xorg.conf myself, to no avail. Lots of talk about wanting higher resolution, but I would like to run a desktop resolution lower than 800x480 (specifically, 720x480). Any way this can be done on a stock image?

    Unofficial keyboard layout poll (bis)

This is a nice feature but does not logically support your use of the letter sequence "AltGr". And for the record, I have zero technical knowledge on this matter and have never seen AltGr before (that I recall). It's a bit like saying I've got a "Storage" sign up over the restroom, but the...

    Pandora Classic (US)

I did read the rulez. Since you didn't state the problem, I have to guess that it's because my photo doesn't have a username. Fixed. Any further nitpicks and the mods can remove this thread. I have neither the time nor inclination to put up with rude replies when I was obviously being faithful...

    Pandora Classic (US)

Hello everyone. I am selling my CC Pandora and accessories on eBay. All details and pictures are in the listing. This is a first batch unit with a refurbished pcb and new case, but they occupy the same space. Since I personally have the 1GHz version and this was collecting dust, I decided to...

    possible soc updates.

Ok so, your big gripe here is that ARM can't run some x86 binaries for which we no longer have source. Or in the cases of the software you're thinking of, never ever could have had the source code. This is the big horrible for sticking to ARM. First off, that's basically a cheap shot at us...

    possible soc updates.

Yes, but even if the battery life stays high an arch change does have significant impact on the software side. I for one don't regard the work that's been done as simply expendable in exchange for what may be a sea of x86 alternatives.
