I just had tried to walk the castle ground in LOZ:OOT but it almost everytime hard freezes in the cut scene. I always got to the princess but when she tells her story in the cut scene... bang, deep freeze. Only a hard reset could revive the Pandora. 600 Mhz, 700 Mhz does not matter - not always...
Stock HF5, nothing changed. It worked right that first time I tried the windowed emulator. To be sure I tried a second time, worked too (At 600 Mhz both times)...
I'd like to bring forward an idea - right now there is a nice compatibilty list at
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AkBB6e4g1lGtdGxzVjhfNnpiMXVfR3FoZWRndG5iQ3c&hl=en_GB#gid=0
which is good for a general overview but there exists no detailed description of glitches.
Often a problem...
Thanks Schnatterplatsch,
As a side note - I managed to fix the bad textures in LOZ:OOT (e.g. when entering the castle, in some shops & equipment screen) and speeded up the driver quite a bit by changing DepthBuffer management in 'gles2n64 0.0.4 - BZF17032011'. The owl does not slow it down...
I think there is a workaround for the bug.
The freeze seem not to happen when running Mupen in Windowed mode.
1. Switch GUI to XFCE4 (don't know if thats needed)
2. Start Mupen64Plus
3. Select Options -> Graphics Settings
An Editor opens
Now change:
window fullscreen=1 -> 0

Thanks Gruso for the tip!
TSBroich: Lets fix things for LOZ:OOT and then turn to the next goal. I'll bet that some blend modes are missing and thats cause the gfx issues.
I can confirm now that it also happens with v1.0 of the LOZ:OOT Rom, PAL or NTSC. Thats on HF5 and confirmed by several others.
As described it happens in the cut scene right after beating the spider boss Gohma - when the cut scene zooms in on the triforce, basically at 4:00 in this video...
One extra question - are you using V1 or V2 of my special Mupen build?
You can easily tell - when you select the graphics plugin V1 displays a list:
gles2n64 0.0.4 <- default
gles2n64 0.0.4f
gles2n64 0.0.5 (regardless of version number its the old plugin, just with the Zelda fix...
If it happens also with the old gles2n64 plugin, its very like unrelated to the changes done there. My guess is a ROM incompatibility or a bug in the emulator itself. Can do you a md5 over your ROM files and post them here for reference? (Working vs. Not working)
Yes. I was unable just to update the first version. The web interface of the file archive didn't let me. ;)
Maybe it would be a good idea just to create a 'beta' section, where updates can be made easily and often - aside from a 'Stable' section for milestone releases.
Just uploaded 'Mupen64plus fixed for LOZ:OOT V2' (Version 2) to the file archive.
Changes are:
- New plugin is now default, if you want to change back to the old one select "0.0.5" from the plugin popup.
- Changed texture cache management to use hash tables. This gave another speedup.
