She won. Well, they settled, but apparently it was "enough to pick out whatever Toyota she wanted"

    Voice over LTE

From the datasheet: "Voice Support for LTE via VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and CSFB (circuit-switched fallback) (PLS8-US/-E only)" So regardless of if we *need* hardware support or not, it's there.

Ah yes, of course. To prevent a lock you must add a loop to delay it. :P

    The Absolute State of Linux

SJW was used at least as far back as the 80s (and possibly much earlier) and referred to someone who fought for social justice on behalf of those that didn't ask for it and arguably didn't need it. The feeling was that they were going too far, tearing down everyone in some crusade to prove that...

    The Absolute State of Linux

https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/98774/can-gpl-licensed-code-be-close-sourced-later-by-the-author/98775 While GPLv3 explicitly says it, GPLv2 had it implied and apparently, if you're willing to fight for it (which I'm certain the EFF would), some part of contract law...

If nothing else, the one takeaway from that (questionably) broken board that we can say for sure is that the backlights consume very little power: it's noticeable and you will gain quite a few extra minutes if you switch it off, but you won't need to worry about it if you don't.

    Passed the certification!

Yeah, I just read about that. This is extremely disturbing, to exempt specific sites from the law almost makes it feel even worse.

    Passed the certification!

Wikipedia is now illegal. This was not a well thought out rule.

    Input/Output from GPS

I am 99.999% certain that it gives NMEA sentences, so you should be able to read raw data off the tty and look for a GLL line, or connect gpsd to it and use the standard library. Parsing a GLL line and converting the coordinates from minutes to fractional degrees should be simple enough.

I'm more concerned about the rhineelshark southeast of Africa. What if it come north?

    Passed the certification!

The switch is bluetooth, and people have figured out how to use its controllers on a regular desktop. Shouldn't be impossible for someone to setup an emulation mode on the Pyra. Unless it uses some security that a desktop can ignore but a fake device can't replicate; wouldn't be surprised if...

    "Smach Z is Back!" ...?

That's literally what people said about the Pandora, and are saying about the Pyra, almost word for word.

    Any 40 year olds here?

I'm staring down the short end of 40. 20 more months.

    Wurm Online on Pyra

So does Minecraft. GL Shim works there. Unless it doesn't in the more recent updates.

    GOG.com

I disagree with their definition of DRM. DRM has existed for 40+ years; "enter word X on page Y" is literally just as much DRM as requiring an active internet connection. By narrowing the definition they can claim to be DRM free when in fact they do have several games that digitally restrict...

    The Final Revision

The point I was going for was that if we (and by we I mean computer and electronics engineers who I am not one of) can't universally get behind and help improve a standard with the stated goal of being a universal interface then what hope is there of such a universal standard evolving naturally...

    The Final Revision

No. If it were possible to create one universal connector, USB (the Universal Serial Bus) would've been it.

Is Mario Kart DS the best Mario Kart ever?

No, AI opponents just used their items whenever they wanted. Donkey Kong launches endless stream of bananas directly in your path; Mario and Luigi non-stop star power as soon as they're behind you. SNES Mario Kart was so rubber band cheating and so blatant about it too. At least the later...

    The Final Revision

I don't think he was ever against it, so much as it didn't even exist when the Pyra was in initial design phase, and through most of R&D. USB-C has only recently started taking the lead as the standard. To change the board now, after all the work that's gone into it, would add so much overhead...
