There is nothing related to the Vita in these Chinese consoles. They are based on an amlogic design like loads of other tablets currently being sold such as for instance the iRobot.
Mine still hasn't arrived but I don't see these as competition for the OpenPandora. These don't really fit into an existing spectrum of the market and we are on the edge of an emerging market/platform. The tablet/hand held crossover.

Okay, got the thing back to work, apperantly having update files on the SD card for another Amlogic device wasn't such a good idea, I think it partially killed uboot by applying the update without so much as a warning. Reapplied the yinlips firmware and it works again however I have to hold down...
I do believe I have bricked my Yinlips (or drained the battery too low, still haven't been able to recharge the bloody thing) while messing about with the recovery console, all I get is a black screen :(
I'm NOT advocating violating the standard. USB 2.0 allows for a device to draw up to 500mA, that is sufficient to recharge the Yinlips within a reasonable time frame. Heck, USB3.0 allows up to 900mA.
Why? Because I love standardization that's why. I haven't had an USB capable device that couldn't charge over a powered USB port since... well, never. I actually can't recharge the bloody thing because the brick that came with it only fits into chinese/us power sockets and it uses a non standard...
