    Non power of two textures

I am attempting to write a class that prints text to the screen using openGL. I was trying to follow NeHe's tutorial on outline fonts, but it seems he farms out the loading of the font to a wgl function. Since the tutorial didn't go into detail on what the function did, I looked at the SDL_ttf...

Carmack says Direct3d is better than OpenGL

I don't really get the need to remain backwards compatible. It's nice, but it's probably more important to stay current. I installed Rosegarden last night and had to put Qt3 support on my system. Why can't they do something like that? Plus, I think openGL is more popular with the open source...

Carmack says Direct3d is better than OpenGL

John Carmack recently said that Direct3D is better than OpenGL due to making "incompatible changes to improve the API." He also mentions that if they just had to move their games over, id would make the switch. But since they would also have to rewrite the tool code, they will stick with...

    ITS EVERYONES FAVOURITE THREAD

I changed the icon set, but I don't have a new screenshot to show that yet. I'll probably get it when it finishes updating (only 15 packages to emerge. That's not too bad).

    Conky

Well, they seem to be working as configured at the moment. I haven't modified the configuration file in quite some time, but I haven't noticed the panel quitting unexpectedly anymore. Must have been fixed with an update... Anyway, I still need to look into that fortune idea. I've been...

Gauging interest in chess among the Na'vi

So some friends and I decided to meet at the movie theater. I suggested we go there and the next movie playing would be the one we would see. When we got there, the next movie was Avatar. However, we decided we should get some food first. When we came back, Shutter Island was the next movie...

So there's a very good chance I have ADD

Sharing prescriptions is illegal in the U.S. Enjoy your ban. J/K, but I wouldn't go around telling too many people. I took a questionnaire about possibly having ADD or ADHD (I honestly can't remember). The results said it might be a good idea to consult with a doctor, but I figure I've...

What was the most disappointing game you ever bought

Yeah, I imagine no one would play it. That's why it's been sitting on the backburner for so long. Mostly just something that came up while I was brainstorming unique ways of using the nubs.

New Pandora smells of stale cigarette smoke?

Someone a while back mentioned they found bits of tobacco in/on their unit. My guess is someone along the supply chain smokes. Edit: I was going to mention you could store the Pandora in an enclosed area with some cat litter, baking soda, or activated carbon, but I don't know if it would work...

What was the most disappointing game you ever bought

This reminds me: I make a Video Ouija clone for the Pandora. The screen is a little small, but I think it would work with TV-Out. Plus, it would probably be the only game where wonky nubs made the game better.

Where are we moving this time? I'm just kidding! Please don't ban me...

    The Quick Questions Thread

Oh, ok. I've been reading stuff about the NAND getting worn out prematurely if things aren't configured correctly. And by stateless, I mean nothing would change between logins if there aren't any SD cards inserted. That MosKeyTo looks pretty neat. But all the pictures seem to show it with...

    Absurdism corner

postCount++; Did you know the Roulette wheel was invented by Blaise Pascal in an attempt to create a perpetual motion machine? I don't know, your post made me think of that.

    Explain Yourself!

Avatar: Back in the days of the old forum, Craigix had a picture of Johnny Depp as Ed Wood as his avatar. When I joined, I noticed many people had pictures parodying his avatar. The joke was pretty old by then, I would find out later. But it was fun nonetheless. So I took a screenshot of...

    The Quick Questions Thread

Hmm, I guess I don't know. The first objective is preserving the NAND. I've heard it can only take so many erases before it goes bad. I guess that number is pretty big, but it would be nice if I didn't have to worry about it at all, especially since the NAND cannot be swapped out. Also, I'm...

Ugh, what have they done to Yars' Revenge?!

This reminds me of the time I found out Alien Syndrome was getting remade (again). I played the PS2 version, but the new one sounded kind of like Shadowgrounds with its upgrades. Anyway, I just looked it up and found it didn't receive very high rankings. It seems like giving a franchise a...

    The Quick Questions Thread

I hate asking questions on this forum, because I always seem to get rude answers, but I'll give it a shot: Can the OS be set up so that all (or at least most) partitions lying on the NAND are mounted read-only?

What was the most disappointing game you ever bought

I remember liking that game. I'm more into arcade flying games than realistic ones. It took effort to get the plane to stall (but that could have been the difficulty). I didn't like the last level, though. The whole "fly through a tunnel with a bogey on your tail after 10 minutes of...
