    Port Requests

For anyone interested in porting Micropolis/SimCity: I was able to get it compiled in Linux, but only after following the instructions here (even though it's for Ubuntu, the important steps were distro-independent in my case). It seems the code doesn't work out of the box with a typical Linux...

Do you have more than 1 Pandora?

I have less than 1 Pandora :P I'm just waiting for my order to come in.

    KDE on OpenPandora

When I was using KDE, RAM usage at idle was very close if not over the Pandora's memory capacity. Unless things have changed, it's just not built for this device. Even Gnome would be big.

    Humble Indie Bundle

Sorry for the bump, but I think some people might find this interesting. I was trying out Shadowgrounds and Survivor in Linux and thought they weren't playing at the level I though they should be. So I thought I would check out some things. For one, I would see how well they played in...

After all that time... I'm done

Yeah, I probably could. But that sounds like such a hassle. I'm content to wait at the moment.

After all that time... I'm done

We should have traded queue positions. Sounds like it would have been win-win. Oh well.

    Port Requests

^I'd be willing to take a look at it. Not saying I can fix it, but I'll give it a go if no one else volunteers (I'm looking at you, Exophase).

    Open source Beverages

My friend was going to a Linux and comic book convention in Detroit. Two of the events were OpenCola brewing and making Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream, but I ended up not going.

    RIOT Tag-Team coding competition

This sounds exciting. I might be willing to collaborate with someone, but I don't know if I have the time necessary to finish a project by a deadline. Also, no pandora for debugging/aesthetic purposes. Some experience with C++, SDL, OpenGL (but not GLES!), and Qt (although I doubt that would...

    Humble Indie Bundle

So I downloaded the complete games last night. Shadowgrounds and :Survivor have "Beta" in their filenames. Do you think my apprehension is justified? Also, I found it interesting how the trailer for the HFB announced those games as "now being available for Linux," even though they've been...

Trying to reformat my dad's old laptop and install Ubuntu

Can you get it to recognize any other cds, such as system restore discs maybe?

Trying to reformat my dad's old laptop and install Ubuntu

Have you tried to install different distributions? Maybe the iso you downloaded is corrupted or something. Is it not recognizing the cd at all, or failing after recognizing it?

I have no explanation for this

Psychotic muscle man=Terry Crews. Seductive eyebrow man=Isaiah Mustafa. Person who watches too many Old Spice commercials=me :P

    Popular Music

I like some pop music. But I guess it depends on what your definition of "pop music" is. According to the local stations, pop music is anything from rap to indie rock. That's a pretty large spectrum.

    Humble Indie Bundle

They probably could. I'd pay an extra ten dollars for a game to come with a Linux client. I'd pay double for open-source (which is why I ended up paying only $20 for HIB2). Edit: And I'm kind of glad I did. HIB2 wasn't as good as HIB1, IMHO. But then I got a free HIB1, which screws...

I've seen Snatch, Rock 'n' Rolla, and Sherlock Holmes. Good stuff.

    Game type hybrids

Motorcycle racing, a la Road Rash, mixed with Roller Derby. Don't know if it would work, but it sounds fun.

I've been trying to switch to Linux...

Well, if you run emerge --update --deep world you can get back to looking for them. Good luck.

I've been trying to switch to Linux...

Use Gentoo. The installer won't freeze, because there isn't one :P

    The Communication Cube

I saw "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Night Watch" tonight. I thought they both had amazing endings. The first for how quickly it tied up its loose ends (and whacked its characters) and the second for not ending how movies usually end.
