    Nub Alternative

Strikes me the current nub design is over complex, a hall sensor has a *lot* of advantages but could be costly - then I bet the current design costs a fortune. I wonder if there was a model of Pandora without nubs what the price difference would be?

Pandora Pandora Pim Alarm Deamon Rtc

...is that one of those special cookies that make you relax...? I think what I'm going to do is take Stuckies base debian, install a bunch of gpe stuff and my development kernel that enables the alarm, then "all" I have to do is extract the next alarm details from gpe and set the hardware alarm...

Pandora Pandora Pim Alarm Deamon Rtc

I had a quick look at the ubuntu package on my desktop, my initial reactions... it not really lightweight coming in at over 2mb installed Its going to need hacking for the Pandora screen size - the calender but always seems to use a giant font.... But not a terrible app Now don't laugh but I...

    Debian On An Sd Card

open a terminal type ls -a is there a file called .pndModMap (if not find it from official SD image, Nand, previous Debian SD) xmodmap is a command which may or may not be installed If you have a wifi connection you can generally install packages containing software with sudo apt-get...

What's The Deal With Charging Time?

what about the long term life of the battery? would rapid charging shorten the life span? I personally would prefer battery life span over speed of charging... I've messed round with that many battery technologies over the years and there’s that much conflicting even plain wrong info out...

Pandora Pandora Pim Alarm Deamon Rtc

I can now cause a switched off Pandora to wake up on a specified time (wake on alarm) YaY! woot! etc etc I had to make some trivial changes to the kernel for it to work - I've done this in a naive way and it will need some thought as to the best way to deal with it - but that can sit on the...

I Thought More Shipments Of Pandoras Was Going Happen More Often....

No doubt if they have any intelligence in *any* contracts they have signed would be that any disruptive behaviour would be grounds to cancel... A reasonable petition with a few thousand signatures on - delivered by an OPL authorised representative in a polite manner would be another matter all...

I Thought More Shipments Of Pandoras Was Going Happen More Often....

You'd just succeed in CC saying "stuff your business, find someone else to make your boards for you" - it *is* tempting but would ultimatly be destructive - I love to see another company being brought on stream in parallel - if only companies didn't expect setup costs to be covered...

What's The Deal With Charging Time?

I've dealt with the twl4030 datasheet and am doing so again looking at the alarm, tell you what its a real brain melt! Personally I'm more than happy with the changing time - if you can only stick it on charge for 1/2 an hour you're still getting (very) roughly 1 and 1/4 hours extra use (very...

What's The Deal With Charging Time?

It's all to easy to inadvertently make magic blue smoke with a bench supply :D I value my Pandora rather higher that risking it on a should! unless they want to publish the charging circuit or specifically state the maximum current it is rated for...

What's The Deal With Charging Time?

This is a *really* bad idea, the charging circuit has almost certainly been designed with a maximum input current in mind, attempting to mess around with the power management chips settings and using a much more powerful power brick will almost certainly blow the charging circuit. You have...

I Thought More Shipments Of Pandoras Was Going Happen More Often....

holy crap! 350 boards I hope thats not 1 months returns - I thought it was the far east that used untrained child labor to make electronics but even several months worth thats still seems a lot to me! mind you my favorite theory is still that CC are owned by Sony and are doing a carefully...

I Thought More Shipments Of Pandoras Was Going Happen More Often....

While the strategy of making CC think you were getting another board company online - had the effect of putting a boot up their unmentionables, it hasn't seem to last so long. Maybe now its time to take the board designs to a few other companies and actually start getting deliveries of boards...

    Debian On An Sd Card

I'd see how it behaves on Nand, and maybe make a boot sd from the "official" image, just to rule out anything that might be a debian problem, although I don't see it being that. You could try taking your battery out for 30 seconds or so and booting into Nand and seeing how it behaves. I have...

Hard Drive Image With Amiga Emu

ah! got you, I thought you meant for some intrinsic reason HD support would slow it down, not just that the one emu that supports it was slower...! I'll maybe look at the UAE4ALL source some day, but it low on my 1001 list of things I want to code on the Pandora ;)

    Horrid Sound And Fix

cant see a faulty headphone jack make it echo - crackle or cutout intermittently maybe but equally i can't make it fault again - either with putting back the comment or waggling the headphone jack! I should just be grateful its fixed - but I hate it when I can't reproduce a problem...

    Debian On An Sd Card

oddly gksudo was failing for me but now it works! anyhow so you can run it from the menu edit synaptics desktop file with something like sudo mousepad /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop scroll down to the bottom to the Exec= line and replace it with Exec=gksudo /usr/sbin/synaptic

    Horrid Sound And Fix

I noticed that recently my sound while using headphones had a terrible echo like some really cheap nasty reverb gone wrong, it was especially noticeable in tracks with a single solo vocalist - say Annie Lennox or Duffy, it made the lyrics almost illegible. I've fixed it but I'm not exactly sure...
