    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

Pandora needs a patched battery applet to show the level properly, you can check the battery status by poking around in /sys/class/power_supply/bq27500-0 The script that shuts down charging isn't on there either, so don't leave it connected to the charger for weeks. It's not like it'll...

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

It's closer to "Yup" than "Nope" though. Most of the work of turning the current DBP sources into a .deb is already done. And as for adding proper pandora support to the rootfs, that's something I sort of planned on doing anyway. It's mostly a matter of adding a few packages that take care of...

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

It's set up to build debian armhf packages, which work on pretty much every modern arm cpu, including the pandora.

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

Hm, while that is the right dir for the rootfs images, the ones currently in there are a bit old, or don't work properly (probably a slight problem with ED's config). A working image can be found here : http://next.openpandora.org/pyra-debian-testing-xfce-rootfs-2014-12-17.tgz And for those...

What would you like to see?

I did a few 7z benchmarks a while ago, that should give you an idea of the cpu. pandora (old CC version): 7-Zip (A) 9.13 beta Copyright (c) 1999-2010 Igor Pavlov 2010-04-15 p7zip Version 9.13 (locale=C,Utf16=off,HugeFiles=on,1 CPU) RAM size: 242 MB, # CPU hardware threads: 1 RAM...

We could just use github for everything

    Any way I could help?

I hope not, pandian does about everything the wrong way.

    Keyboard/game-control modes

in the jayfoxrox stuff he added a hal rule to stop the /dev/input for the device beeing created. I haven't managed to find that succesfully manages to do the same with something more modern, since hal is obsolete now. I did try a few udev rules on a .next image, but that didn't really seem to...

    Keyboard/game-control modes

well, with a configurable input daemon, you could put it wherever you want. It would have to come with some sensible defaults of course, but if you don't like those you can map keys/buttons to whatever you want, and save us all a lot of forum fights/polls. Switching to different profiles based...

    Which distro

The crosscompiler support here is for building the pyra .deb packages, everything should build as automatically as possible for the firmware, you don't want to spend half the time moving files to/from a pyra just to rebuild a package. Although it seems that is exactly how everyone is/was doing...

    Which distro

It wasn't about debian on arm, but more for arm crosscompilers/packager support on debian x86. In stable you have to grab those from an external repo, in testing/unstable it's all part of the default repos. That post did probably make it look like more of a problem than it really is.

    Which distro

I nearly forgot about that bit for testing. And we really can't afford any breakage at all for a built in firmware. So it's either : debian stable, with older packages, and support for arm that isn't quite there yet. or ubuntu based , with more up to date packages and better arm support. A...

    Which distro

The idea is to have one standard install + toolchain that all .pyra (.pnd replacement) will work on. If any "advanced" users want to run something else, that's fine, but "officially" supporting multiple versions of firmware isn't really an option. Especially not with binary distributed apps...

    Which distro

Just to make things clear,  using ubuntu does NOT mean using any of the canonical crap. Look at xubuntu/kubuntu/mint , they're all based on ubuntu, but they don't like the canonical stuff any more than you do. They're just using it as a more up to date debian to base their distro on. If we go...

    Which distro

Although everyone seems to assume debian is already decided on, we're still at a stage where we can choose something different. Even if we do go for debian, there are three different versions of it that we can choose from. - Stable         Slightly outdated packages, but very solid.        ...

    userspace input daemon

Since this stuff is sort of important, I rescued a few bits from the other thread and put them here. As anyone who ported an app that tries to use the pandora controls knows, it's all a bit of a pain to work with. (although using the patched SDL lib does hide a few of the problems). The kernel...

    The software side

Yes, and as I mentioned in one of my previous posts, that actually existed, but due to lack of interest from the rest of community it never went anywhere. I might still have it in my archives, it must have been nearly 5 year ago,  i think it was JayFoxRox who did it, there might still be...
