    GP2X Booting Images

Sounds like a good plan. I have trampoline working now, if I have problems with the battery LED I'll skip to the UART. Debugging will be so much nicer when I can read what's happening, beats the hell out of reading codes from a flashing LED. I'm currently using my own cross assembler running on...

    GP2X Booting Images

I've read over the ARM docs (and MMSP2 a while back) a couple of times, although I'm sure I'll be returning to them often. My current plan is... 1. flash battery LED 2. get serial port working 3. get MMU working How would I boot my image using your Spot module?

    GP2X Booting Images

Thanks again, I'll get the cradle and I have a parallel cable somewhere. I can worry about software when it arrives :)

    GP2X Booting Images

Thanks, I'll go ahead and install. Yes, after reading more it seems that JTAG would be extremely useful. I assume I need a cradle (or similar cable), some software, some kind of cable connecting the cradle to my PC or perhaps a black box. Do I need the black box or does the cradle count as a...

    GP2X Booting Images

I find myself wanting to boot my own (non-linux) images on my GP2X, and was wondering what the best way to do this would be. I can generate the images already so I don't need a whole toolchain, just a method to boot them. I have a bunch of little SD cards, so my preferred method would be to...

Is Complete Control Over The Hardware Possible?

Yes, it's very possible. I'm (still) planning on a native forth for the gp2x. Real life keeps getting in the way so progress is painfully slow, it's mostly still at the vapourware stage.

    Vista

I see it more like: Games have a long way to go when it comes to Linux. I've quite a few commercial games for Linux (NWN, X2 and others) and they run just fine. It's not the platform that's at fault, it's just the games aren't usually written for it. As for Vista, I'm a Linux zealot so probably...

    The "i <3 Gp2x" Thread

I love my GP2X. I love playing games on the GP2X. Payback is great, the only problem I've had is with the direction of reverse handbrake turns. UQM is fun too, and I'm finally playing all the old Amiga and ST classics I didn't get to when I was a teenager. Freedroid is wonderful other than...

    Gp2x Programming Made Easier

FYI werty is a well known troll on comp.lang.forth where he often discusses some inspired and some insane ideas about forth on the GP2X. Please don't take this as an insult werty, your trolls are among the best crafted I have ever seen and were NewForth not vapourware I'd probably use it.

Power Supplies For The 2x That Are Actually Useable

It is, and I'll look into it... tnx Squidge.

Power Supplies For The 2x That Are Actually Useable

I got the Argos one but I have the same problem. IMO it's a design fault in the GP2X, ideally the power socket would be at the top beside the headphone one. It's not really an issue for me as when I'm gaming I'm using batteries and when I'm doing other stuff it's over the serial cable.

GP2X I Might Start Developing For The Gp2x

I should elaborate, it really depends on where you are aiming. If you want to write a homebrew game for the gp2x then it's probably better to stick with something reasonably high level, C or C++ is everyone's 1st choice, perhaps python if you don't want to get too involved in the details. If you...

GP2X I Might Start Developing For The Gp2x

Knowing assembly will make you a better programmer in any language. It's not really harder, but it is different and you need to keep track of your bits and bytes.

    Mk1 Screen Damaged ?

Yeah, I get that. I read somewhere (wiki?) that it's due to overtightning of the screws holding the gp2x together, apparently if you slacken them a little it helps. I haven't because I'm lazy :)

Thinking Of Getting A Gp2x - Is It Too Much Hassle, And What Does It P

C64 was the first computer I actually owned. Vice runs all the stuff I want to use just fine, although I have found a couple of images that don't seem to work. There are a few C64 games that are still worth playing IMO, indeed there are some that have not yet been surpassed. As for the wider...

    Ordering From Gp2x.co.uk

I got mine from gp2x.co.uk some months ago and there was a delay for me too, but please try and be patient. I suspect it really is a case of supply and demand. When my GP2X finally arrived it was flashed to the latest firmware and part of the hold-up was the fact they were testing all the units...

    The Essentials

Grab OutcaST. There's a whole bunch of games available in various places and the emulator supports writing back to the disk image so you can save your games (the amiga emulator doesn't seem to do that?). I've spend the last 4 days playing Phantasie III, The Wrath of Nikademus using it. I've not...

    Linux Distros

Is it only 3D that is slow? If so I expect it's not using the correct display driver. Ubuntu runs fine for me, although you may prefer Kubuntu. I suspect switching distros may not help, whatever is making ubuntu slow may well make other distros slow too. It would help to know... What is the...
