I attempted the container method with two SVCD music videos and neither one would play (Error: Unsupported File).
Perhaps I've done something wrong - but it doesn't appear to work as expected.
I do realize we are dealing with "early adopter" issues which is why I'm hardly upset about things. I'm a patient man.
As for the container, is this a Windows CLI tool, this mencoder? Is there a front end? (I'm an old Amiga CLI dude, I'm not afraid, but most front ends have batch conversion...
Honestly, NOT having to convert my existing VCD/SVCD/MPG files for playback on a portable was the #1 reason I chose a GP2x over, say, a PSP.
I'm sure someone somewhere is working on getting us MPG playback ... however, this is something I want bad enough to PAY for.
I'm sure others share my...
First, HUGE thanks for Frodo. This and UAE are the MAIN reasons I got a GP2x - and its much appreciated.
I'm having troubles loading old EA games (namely Legacy of the Ancients). I've tried 1541 emulation (this usually fixes them in other emulators) but this still fails. Any thoughts or help...
The firmware upgrade happens automatically when you boot ... you DO however, have to go into UTILITY and select the patch file ...
That fixes everything :)
Man, I was going to respong, but Cyclops pretty much summed it up.
I want to point out that humans (read this as DEVELOPERS) will always choose the path of least resistance when it comes to development. If you have a portable Playstation - you're going to get protable Playstation games...
I can tell you one thing, I am tired of DS getting a bad rap. I could certainly understand the fears the first few months after the launch; things were pretty luke warm for sure. But let's be forthright about the DS.
"Low res" screen. 2 x 256 x 192 gives a combined resolution of 512x384 ...
Probably not ... as mentioned in other followups, the DS and GP2x/PSP are really different devices. I love my DS. I own more games for that thing than I think I've EVER owned for a console. Its a tactile, commercial game experience that neither the GP2x or the PSP can hope to touch...
Of course not - but, I again have to cite that Sony isn't going to offer up the bios files for you legally to carry out the plan of firmware shifting.
This site isn't just for me ... and you ... WE know how cool the unit is/will be. I'm trying to help educate the drones. While I'm not a huge...
I'm not sure I agree its 'unbalanced'. There are TONS of technical specifications that are UNKNOWN (closed architecture on the PSP, nothing shipped for the GP2x) at this time.
The fact that someone might have to 'shift' **firmware** to make the PSP viable, that's not what I would consider...
When I mean "out of the box" I mean NO modification. ANY PSP has to be able to do the specified task WITHOUT firmware revisions. Its this still true? I do NOT profess to be educated about this. This is why I look to you guys with a PSP.
Time, indeed, will tell. For me personally, its...
Man, people find things FAST ... :)
The page is really still in development. This is just a placeholder - direct comparisons are just one aspect this site will have when all is said and done. The most OBVIOUS thing we wanted to show is that the GP2x is a good alternative for people buying a...
