    My Gp2x Directional Mod

darkman - Stumbled on this thread. Pleased you were inspired to do this mod and found my (old) guide useful. In those days, I didn't have a soldering iron, so made my mod rather crudely; yes it looked crap in comparison to what I do now (but it was my first mod after all). As you see in my...

    Accidentally Put 12 Volts In

Putting that voltage through a system only expecting 3v is likely to usually a system. I had an N64 mobo fry a few months ago (smoke given off) with only 5v going into a 3v line, let alone 12v!

One Handheld To Rule Them All.....

So much hype for this system, it hasn't even come out yet. It could be quite disappointing when it does come, or it could be very good; what you can be sure of is that during the development process many features and benefits of a system don't make it into the final product.

    Mame Gems

Rather than just names of games, any chance you could post an in-game pic screenshot of the game you are talking about so the rest of us know if it is worth trying please?

Current Build Quality Of The Tv-out Cables?

I am sure the cable is the same one, but if you select NTSC on the GP2x on a PAL TV then it will be black and white and hazy, you select NTSC for NTSC TV's and PAL for PAL. As to the plug quality, seems fine now. Clicks nicely into place.

    Tv Out

What happens is one of three scenarios: 1) You get a black border on the left and right of the screen 2) You lose the top and bottom bit as the sides are expanded to fit and keep same aspect ratio 3) The image is a bit horizontally stretched

For Those Of You Interested - The Next Bacteria Project

Yes, this system will be portable. It would be very easy to make it work on a standard TV too, I could easily make composite and stereo output to TV, although I doubt I would use it - I have the space for it (top of system, between batteries, under the universal cart slot. As I have space, I...

For Those Of You Interested - The Next Bacteria Project

I have emulators on my PC for the old systems, and ROMs too; that was got my interest in console gaming in the first place - especially in the N64 and SNES. It is far more satisfying playing an original game on an original console system; and anyway, emulators aren't always accurate. I have a...

For Those Of You Interested - The Next Bacteria Project

Not GP2x related, but then a number of postings here aren't these days as most topics have been done to death. For those of you who are interested in my project work and system/console modding, you might be interested to keep tabs on my latest, and biggest project, a multi-platform console...

    Gp2x Offical Carrying Case

Yup, a DS case is fine, however I found the best one to be the official Nintendo carry case for the original GameBoy - the larger compartment takes the GP2x takes the system nicely, and the smaller one takes your SD cards, earphones and about a dozen batteries. Lovely!

Bacteria's Gp2x Mod With Rotating Screen Finished

A r k - The MAME vertical shooters you play with screen rotation only use one or two buttons; nothing fancy. For example, PacMan doesn't use any, Galaga uses one, 1942 uses two, Pengo uses one, Gorf uses one. fatdad - The link is their main page, what was the item you were referring to on their...

Get 9,5 Hours Of Gp2x Action @ 200mhz On Aa Batteries!

Nice. It would be easy enough to hack half of the back of the GP2x casing (keeping the securing screws as they are so you can secure the case down - just enough space for this) to put in a 6 cell battery compartment; that would keep the height down to a sensible level.

Bacteria's Gp2x Mod With Rotating Screen Finished

centrlink - Pleased you like my work. The existing buttons are designed to work whether the screen is rotated or not, as when the screen rotates it changes the function of the buttons to accomodate. Not sure if I will get a Pandora or not, will wait for reviews when it gets released, and decide...

Bacteria's Gp2x Mod With Rotating Screen Finished

DaveC - Yes, it is thick textured paper, 160gsm. It needs three coats of clear varnish, as mentioned before, to stop the paper from marking and to protect it. I did this on my PDA project and it gives a nice sheen to the paper too, making it nice and "polished". I can very easily print proper...

Bacteria's Gp2x Mod With Rotating Screen Finished

Exophase - Posted reply about buttons and how they hold in last posting, I was compiling the post when you posted yours. The button at the top is the Centre Click. Button placement is fine, it is easy to "sweep" your thumb to move between them - after all, on the GP2x you can accidentally press...

Thanks guys for the comments. I have some replies, end of this post. When I tried to post the full submission I got an error saying I tried to upload too many image links to the thread, so some couldn't go in; also the posting had to wait for X-Team approval to go into "News" - here is the rest...

Bacteria's Gp2x Mod With Rotating Screen Finished

After quite a lot of work, I have finished my GP2x mod. I initially wanted to incorporate batteries into this system (see my BenHeck thread for project details), however I should have used Li-ions and not NiMH cells, and for some reason the GP2x was power draining powerful C cell 5500NiMH cells...
