What About Porting Game Creation Systems To Pandora?

Hi. DarkBasic and DarkBasicPro are so heavily dependent on DirectX that they could only be recreated from scratch. However, DarkBasic is based on an earlier version of Basic called Amos Basic Professional on the Amiga. This is freely downloadable and will run under UAE4All if you have an...

Release Fullspeed Amiga Emulation On Pandora!

I'm almost certain they do. It's a little unusual to have one sync mark per track like the Amiga. The PCs have one sync mark per sector. That's why Amiga disks hold so much more.

    Making A Programming Language

The first programming languages were written in raw binary and later Assembly. (Assembly just has a short command assigned to the bit pattern of each instruction which is called a mnemonic.) If I were going to write a new language now, (and I currently am) I'd use LLVM as my Assembly language...

    Porting Tutorial

DarkBasic and PlayBasic only works on Windows due to many DirectX dependencies. PureBASIC works on Intel Linux so it won't be portable to the Pandora's ARM compatible processor unless the authors decide to port it themselves. GLBasic seems to be available for the GP2X so running it under an...

    Which Sound Library To Use?

If you're going to use a verison of OpenAL for Linux, be sure it is OpenAL-Soft. The regular versions really stink.

Hollywood Designer can be made to run on Intel Linux by installing hosted AROS on top of it. That will give you native speed without as much emulation overhead as EUAE. Edit: That will only help the Intel version of Linux though.

Release Fullspeed Amiga Emulation On Pandora!

It will take months to finish and has taken years in the making (having started over once or twice) but Mattathias should eventually be able to do everything that AmosPro could do (minus the Peek and Poke functionality, that doesn't work in a memory-protected environment like Linux). The catch...

I think Mono takes more than 128 megs of RAM so it won't work well on a Pandora. The problem with compilers is that it seems that most people assume that Intel is king and don't make their software portable to other platforms. I'm in the process of developing a flexibly modifyable compiler for...

    What Software Do People Want?

EMULATORS: NeoGeo Saturn Genesis PCE/TG16 C64 Amiga <-FULL UAE would kick freaking butt!!! Lots more but that is the stuff I would use regularly. Firefox 3.x is a given. I'd agree with the Pidgin IM since I use it on my Linux-based laptop already. I'm pretty sure UAE/EUAE is on the...

    What Software Do People Want?

For the people wanting .Net/Mono-based solutions, I don't think the Pandora has enough memory for these bloated solutions. I'll admit they are powerful but for a handheld device they are totally unsuitable. :(
