    Man Page Usage Debate

Curiously, not even funny-manpages included that page. It does have date, grope, condom, sex, baby and celibacy.

    Sopwith Anyone?

Do tell more, I'm curious about computer history. Sopwith is not exactly a new game - and it wasn't actually produced as a commercial product. It was a demo for networking gear, of all things, and featured a simultaneous multiplayer mode in the earliest versions. Scramble does have similar...

    Man Page Usage Debate

Typical examples of commands where the man page is sometimes necessary include mount, sed, awk, grep and iptables. make is a great example of where it isn't enough; the makefile format is described only in the info file. By the way, every info reader I've found also reads man pages. I'm pretty...

    Devil 64 Newest News

Anagram, not acronym. My attention was brought here by the pandora news scraper, but this is quite the odd farce. Who else is guessing a few more months of claims ED has it and is just pretending not to? On the other hand, considering the language, we might yet be pleasantly surprised by Rolf...

Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru Hd, And Penumbra Are Now Open Source!

Not that we need it to be 64 bit on the Pandora. Anyway, that's what intptr_t is for, defined in stdint.h. FWIW, I'd particularly like Gish and Aquaria on the Pandora - Aquaria is designed as a two analog stick game.

What Is The Maximum Sd Class One Can Benefit From?

It's a simple case of the marketing values not telling you what you want to know. The class number is relevant if you're recording with a video camera. On the pandora, how often do you expect to be performing only one long continuous write? No other scenario is accounted for in that...

    The Humble Indie Bundle

So did mine, but all the tweets said otherwise.. I picked the pessimistic option, and was pleasantly surprised. We still have a shot at this, it seems!

    The Humble Indie Bundle

Not fast enough. We need $9k in 4 minutes. I really want it to succeed.

    Programmer Magician Wanted

If it's really number crunching, it'll do just fine - but you have to think in scale, as with Matlab. Python is actually quite popular for scientific computations precisely because it's so high level. If you're interested: NumPy, PyOpenCL, MDP, MMTK and many more. Of course, that is rather off...

    Fellow Pre-Orderers: Reveal Yourselves

Rather old, but this is the crazy hair thread, right? (400K 1280x960 image)

Hardware Change Requests Are Driving Me Batty

If you're going to copy another company's marketing names, you'll get a bit of their expectations along. So the "Go" version shouldn't add ANYTHING (we already had bluetooth), instead removing SD support, rearranging the controls to be more cramped, smaller screen, more fragile hinge, etc.

    Quality Control

That's what I wanted to hear. Stable speeds without packet loss sound to me like the rest is a matter of handshake optimization, or possibly as silly as bus speed setting (been there...). 45 kilobytes per second is as fast as a PLIP link could go, or about four times as fast as a common...

    Any Update On The Wifi?

People always forget the half-duplex nature of radio links. 802.11b/g normally passes all traffic through the AP, so you'd get half the network speed copying things from one wireless node to another, at best. Maybe they did something about that with 802.11N, but that won't matter to the Pandora...

    Pic's With Usb Support

Worse actually, you can blame USB-IF for requiring it. They only permit certifying your products against the latest spec. And AFAICT, no, Pandora can't talk directly to full speed devices on the host port. You'd have to use a translator (hub), the OTG port, or the Ext port (non-USB). Or, of...

    Closest Pandora Competitor

I think you might be underestimating the actual size of those nubs. They have a pillar connected to a flex measuring board; we only see the tip during use. The smallest I've seen is in a modern ThinkPad keyboard, a base about 14mm square, and reinforced with 10 screws (4 within that footprint).

    The Last Appstore Thread

I'm for something memorable yet harmless, along the "hellollo" lines. Appappa was already a song though. If we're going with a Pandora theme, something hopeful (as that's what stayed in the box). ελπίδα - elpida - perhaps Elpidaida is too strange? It has encouragingly few Google hits. Edit: IMHO...

Streammygame Or Something Like That For Pandora ?

It might not be fake, but it's at the very least misleading. A couple of claims from their site include "OnLive connects you to game servers through the Internet, instantly sending your controller actions upstream and the results back downstream at blinding fast speeds" and "For HDTV resolution...

    Jxd-V3-Clamshell-Pmp-Gamer

The poor control placement is clearly an imitation of the PSP Go. It's horrible on that, and won't be better with a bigger device and large rims on the sides. Chalk this one up not to creative design but blind imitation.

Where To Buy A Cheap 32Gb Sd Card?

Nope, but I'll note that the class marking says more about when the model was made than how fast it is. It's a minimum rating for long linear writes, nothing more. The Sandisk card is manufacturer rated up to 15MB/s read. Patriot's product specs actually specify that it's Class 6, while making...

    Notaz and his Pandora!!

I'm aware (sorry I didn't make that clear). Just pointing out that this particular problem can be reduced even if it occurs in released units, though it would be nice if the final screens make it unnecessary.
