Release Pandora Now Has 256mb Of Ram And 512mb Internal Nand Storage

Very welcome, though I must confess to a slight concern over increased battery drain. I doubt the ram is the absolute main part of that, though, except in standby. I'm also another person concerned about loss of queue positions by the refund/re-order process. Is there any way to maintain them...

    Homeworld

Topic edited so the thread's not emphasizing the possibility of Wine. It's probably likely to cause flames here, and that part of the conversation is pretty much over, I think.

    Pandora - The Music Player

Ah, that's the post I was thinking of, so I'm evidently wrong too. Apologies for the misinformation!

    Pandora - The Music Player

It might be worth mentioning again, here, that whilst the 100 hours is fairly realistic, it would rely on packing a music player, SD access, and button-drivers into whatever size the memory of the power-saving/audio chip is. I.e. the 100h prediction, if I understand it right, assumes that the...

    Preparations for the technologically inept?

I think the class of technically inept people that many are concerned about are those for whom two tasks in particular come with difficulty - unzipping things, and reading readmes. Provided you know how to do those, then you'll be fine. There may be other things you need to know, but most of...

New Pix Of The Pcb With Analogues Attached

Closed, but not deleted. There are enough people who don't read everything every day that they might have missed Notaz' pictures, I think, so we'll let this one slide off the screen a little slower than it might do otherwise :).

    Keyboard Noise Question

I love the feeling of the click. But I must admit the sound does get annoying. If only because it says "hey, look over here, I'm the source of that really annoying clicky sound that's been pissing you off for the last few minutes". If I recall correctly, though, the general consensus when this...

Pandora Standard Distro: Armstrong Or *ubuntu?

And given that it does, I'm closing this thread before the arguments get any louder. For anyone who hasn't read the latest blog update, it might be a good idea to look at it.

Adding netplay to an existing game .. your thoughts?

In terms of whether I'd use a netplay feature... depends on whether there were other people discoverable online with low effort. Which basically means that for me to use it, some kind of matching system would be necessary. POND might well cover that, though, if AirtTamStorm finishes it (touch...

    This Would Be Cool...

Whilst I'm quite sure of the legalities in the UKof this particular one (i.e. completely illegal unless you can persuade the government to give you a license), I'm unsure why it would have to interfere with other channels. Surely you'd just set it to transmit in the middle of one of those big...

List of PSX games you plan/hope to play

Well, Planescape Torment might give it a run for it's money. But Xenogears is truly an amazing achievement.

What Is The Version Of The Omap3 Engineering Sample?

AFAIR it's more about the increase in SD mortality rate if you use it for swap - that whole "being written to perpetually" thing really isn't a good idea for solid state memory. That said, with SDs it isn't quite as bad as with some other cards, since they have decent wear-levelling. Plus, of...

Where Is The New Enhanced Gmenu2x Discussion ?

Given the multitude of information thrown up by the google search provided so kindly by Gruso, I'm locking this. There's a lot of discussion out there, it's just people are waiting for a video of the actual thing to surface before it continues, I believe. Closed (for redundancy).

Dream About A Modern, Revised Psion 3a

As long as I can throw .doc files at it, and then save them edited, I'm not too fussed what office program we have. A tiny one that supports the "most used" features would be absolutely fine. But it may very well not be what we get - only time will tell :).

    Bob''s Game

Awesome news - I really really hope this comes off :). That said, does anyone else find it odd that the two most recent emails from Bob were signed "Brian" and "David" respectively? It's probably just that more people are getting involved now that everything is taking off, but the cynic in me...

Will High scores be saved permanently using MAME emulator ?

I doubt MAME will save scores permanently, though. If you kill your directory with roms in, it's unlikely your scores would persist when you re-copied the same roms to a new directory, simply because saves tend to be in the same place roms are. But you'd have to be rather careless to lose them...

Official Promotion And/or Boot Animation/Jingle Thread.

It may be moot to discuss boot sounds for now, simply because Craig (I think... could have been MWeston, or possibly Evildragon, but I think Craig) has stated before that he can't stand them. I'd guess that would mean Pandora won't have a boot sound - though I don't know whether it'll mean the...
