It's the main board. There's no "keyboard guts", only the main Pandora board and the keys/buttons map directly to that.
Having another board just for the keyboard would have a FAT :P impact on thickness.
I'd just like to remind you all that Picodrive was the first video after fixing the L2 cache issue, which means that all the former videos were actually running a good deal slower than they can now. I'd also expect more discoveries in the future that might give us more speed ;)

Shipping stuff with non-system-basic software nowadays is kind of bad since things are always having new versions released and stuff, IMO at least. better to just have a link to the file archive/wiki/etc.
It's just a battery modified to send some spacial data back to the hardware (0xFFFFFFFF serial number), which then makes the PSP go into service mode and boot form the memory stick instead of the flash.
Most batteries (and all official ones) can be soft-converted by popping them into a PSP...
