Sdio, .pnd Files, And The Dsp

I was planning on just using ImgBurn to make pnd files. To make compressed ones I have to use something like this?

Will You Be Able To Buy A Replacement Parts?

Depends on whether you're quoting the first post or not. Everyone reads the first post. It's still fresh in their memory. Quoting it in the next post isn't really necessary.

Midori Is Unstable? Now We Have Chromium

Don't worry kaprikawn - there's none of that "usage statistics" tracking in Chromium - only Google Chrome. ;) +1 for Chromium. Or Opera, if they have an ARM port.

How About The 720Mhz Omap For The Second Batch?

I recall hearing they'd be $339 Heh... when I preordered, 1.6ghz Atom netbooks were $250. Now they are $320. Go figure. ;)

    Linux: What`s yours called

Your quotes imply they know what Linux is - or at least an operating system. I said non-technical. :P But I think we're on the same page that it won't be detailed, and may not be correct.

    Linux: What`s yours called

Interesting example, but person 2 would actually say "err... Ubuntu". I've tested it over and over with non-technical people. ;) Correct doesn't matter. To the end user, whatever it is once all packaged up neatly, is what the OS is. So... Ubuntu. ;) Windows XP, Gentoo, OSX, Suse...

    Linux: What`s yours called

OS is what it is when everything gets wrapped up. So Ubuntu = OS, Windows XP = OS, OSX 10.6 = OS. The kernel is a huge part of an OS, as is everything running underneath - but neither makes a complete OS. Neither is usable by itself.

    The Desktop

Me too. ;) I read a very long article a while ago complaining about audio quality. Something about not mixing frontends and backends. (probably the wrong terminology - I know nothing about audio in Linux) Summarized, OSS4+OSS4 = Good, Alsa+OSS = bad, Alsa+Alsa = bad, PulseAudio+Alsa = bad...

    The Desktop

Apparently when the decision was made to go with XFCE, LXDE was unstable on ARM CPUs. Since then it's probably matured. It's way faster than XFCE, so I personally will be trying it out as well. I happen to like it more than XFCE, too.

    Pandora Wi-Fi On 350kilobytes/s

Triple my speed!? Well... my ISP has more stars, so THERE! :P Yes, great job Mweston/notaz and everyone involved. :)

    Pandora Wi-Fi On 350kilobytes/s

350KB/sec is fine. It's not ideal for network transfers(ex: Samba), but it'll do for internet stuff. The big thing is no connection dropouts. We have a worldwide audience here. Use full suffixes or we have no clue what you're talking about. 350KB/sec is significantly below 25mbit, but...

I Love Non Working Wifi - Who Else?

I don't care. It does need to be fixed eventually, but in the meantime... 1) A dongle is fine. 2) No dongle is fine. 3) Botchy connections are fine. I don't plan to do much wireless stuff right away. 4) Proprietary drivers are fine. I'd rather have working wireless than unworking, even if it...

Any Reason To Continue Using Full Sized Sd Cards?

A-Data 16GB cards are pretty good. Fast, and they seem to last a while. I included taxes. ;) I have a feeling you'll be better off ordering from the US. They have cheaper international shipping than we do. When I need to find a low price on something, I usually use ShopBot. (keep your ad...

Any Reason To Continue Using Full Sized Sd Cards?

In Canada, MicroSD is the same, but SDHC is far cheaper. I can get 2x16GB for about $70. (50 euros) It's almost half-price. MicroSD devices literally cost about $40 more after factoring in the more expensive cards. I only buy full SDHC devices.

Any Reason To Continue Using Full Sized Sd Cards?

No. Chip makers don't see the benefit of 3-4 SD card slots, so they don't build that feature into any of the best chips. And those are the SoCs you actually want. I suppose you could hack it in with extra chips or something, but that'd increase the cost, and might not have the same performance.

Moving Pnd Files On Sd Cards

So will write cache be off by default? ;) These are SD cards... low access latencies. We don't need it, right? skeezix: I don't quite understand what you're saying? I'm saying that one copy per user is fine, and one copy for all users is fine, but one copy with profile-specific settings is not...

Moving Pnd Files On Sd Cards

Driver issues, then? This is the card reader: http://www.ncix.com/...ucts/?sku=24164 Wonderful to hear! :) Depends on the app. Profiles works okay in Linux - but in Windows, anything unclean that doesn't write back to its own folder is probably writing to a) Your profile, b ) your Windows...

    Any Way To Change Resolution?

I believe the driver hack in question runs the game at 1024x768, then downscales for the screen. I remember seeing the OQO do that on Youtube.

    Any Way To Change Resolution?

I recall someone saying all the polygons still have to be processed by the CPU - so it would reduce GPU load a bit, but not CPU load. That means if you were trying to run something highly graphical, like DOOM 3, the GPU might be taxed and benefit from 400x240. Otherwise, it probably won't make a...

Moving Pnd Files On Sd Cards

Except Windows. Hey, I love alternate OS's, but this is one area where Windows is clearly superior, and has been since XP. There isn't, by default. My opinion is there shouldn't be. Would it be possible to prompt to move the settings? Maybe link the files somehow, so moving one also...
