GP2X Reading The Gp2x Serial Number

I could, but the "info" page on the gp2x menu reports the serial number so there's no need to download anything. I think I'll ask in another topic!

GP2X Reading The Gp2x Serial Number

Just persistence. Now, if memory serves, there was a break in availability of gp2x units when the design changed. Combing through the board archives should give me a good guess for the cutoff date.

GP2X Reading The Gp2x Serial Number

In another thread I was whining about being unable to read the GP2X serial number, which is something I want to do as the first step in identifying Mk1 gp2x units so I can treat their graphics differently in my little games. Anyway, I finally figured it out. Code attached. The "pszSerial"...

What Should I Go For? Gp2x, Psp, Or Ds?

I am of course thinking only of Alex here, unselfishly concerned for his state of mind while he waits... How long do you think it will be before you can send him "one of the new ones"?

    Download Roms?

It is against board policy to ask where to download pirated copyrighted material (and probably to ask where to buy drugs and so on). It may seem stupid since presumably a fair number of people here engage in such activity, but it stops the board from turning into a warez slum, and there may...

Gbax 2007 Coding Competition - Winners Announced

Congratulations to the winners, well deserved! I couldn't get that "Ozone" thing to work though... what's a "PSP"? Do we have an emulator for it? :)

How Gamepark Screwed Up On The Gp2x

As you know from many other topics, like the joystick, "blow" is a matter of taste. Owning both, I for example find the Mk1 screen to be much better. For those who only have a Mk2 and don't know what that opinion could possibly be about, consider the following image which contains...

How Gamepark Screwed Up On The Gp2x

I think they did pretty well considering that the low-volume sales mean high production costs. I suppose a directional pad using membrane switches wouldn't have been more expensive than the current joystick so maybe that would have been better, and some of the jacks have unfortunate...

Camelot Warriors Remake For Gp2x And Windows!

Great looking artwork! Everybody will decide for themselves whether they think a game is fun though :)

    Bloxoid

Not quite, I said I'd limit myself to making goofy little games... like this one! I think having several game projects at once can help avoid burnout because one of them usually seems fun to work on at any given time.

    Bloxoid

If you have a project that would benefit from the deadline, that's great! The more the merrier! Alex: Sorry, no hints (I might have to dial back the features to make the deadline!)

    Bloxoid

Feeling bad about missing the GBAX compo, missing the sweet adrenaline rush of deadline pressure, and depressed about not releasing anything recently, I'm dusting off one of my old goofy game concepts and setting a hard August 19 deadline for its development, from blank project to release...

    Vectrex Emulation?

Thanks for the offer! I'm not certain at this point what I'd use it for so rather than make you package it up I'll let you know if I need it at some point. At first glance, it looks like Valavan Manohararajah's code (which is where I'm starting) handles the display and input stuff adequately...

    Vectrex Emulation?

Yes to all that. If I'm going to do an emulator, I'll do it right.

    Vectrex Emulation?

    It'll be worth the wait!

    Vectrex Emulation?

Just a quick note to set expectations: After studying what needs to be done, making my todo list for this project, and thinking about the various other things I'm working on, ETA for a testing relese on this from me is "sometime in september".

Why Did You Get A Gp2x?

What a great attitude! I like your style!

    N-racer Blog

Thinking on it a bit more, it might be good enough to make high-speed motion blur textures for a representative set of orientations and blend one of them with the normal texture proportionally as speed increases... I'll try something like that as one of the options. I'm still amused by this...

    N-racer Blog

Alas, since the orientation of the rotation is arbitrary, the "versions" would have to uniformly sample a half sphere, which would probably end up being a lot. Plus, one blurred texture only corresponds to a particular speed. I could imagine as many as 16 textures per marble being acceptable...

I think I have the rotation stuff worked out well enough for the moment. New demo: http://www.dzzgames.com/nr4.gpe In this version, drive the marbles with the joystick like you might expect to drive around. Zoom in/out is on VOL+ and VOL-. And finally A/B moves the light source around a bit.
