Lynx eats Gameboy's shorts doesn't strike me as "humble"

Got An Xbox 360? Hate The Crappy D-Pad?

I disagree with the SNES D-Pad being circular. The fact that you can't hit a diagonal by accident helps a lot.

Yeah, I don't see the 3DS launching at higher than $199USD.

Got An Xbox 360? Hate The Crappy D-Pad?

It looks like the one on the 360 controller, which I find sucks for games like Pac Man.

Got An Xbox 360? Hate The Crappy D-Pad?

I just saw this link http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/rock-band-3-mad-catz-keyboard-and-midi-pro-adapter/ and they're making one for all 3 systems, but I like the + shaped D-pad better.

I have to say it's pretty brilliant of them to just take the bottom of a DSi and turn it into its own system. Anyone know if they did that with a FamiClone? If it's got an actual NES chip in there, by now the battery life should be pretty insane on a single AA battery, and compatibility should...

Why Do Console Makers Strip Obvious Features?

Err, MGS4 for on iOS.... I assume MGS doesn't stand for Metal Gear Solid? @Exophase - I don't like it much for traditional games either - Sonic and Giana Sisters kinda suck. I think it's better for fighters than a D-Pad, since a D-Pad isn't that good anyway (I prefer playing Tekken 3 on ePSXe...

Why Do Console Makers Strip Obvious Features?

If you're referring to me, Apple didn't design it to be a game system, they stumbled upon it accidentally and ran with it, so it completely doesn't count with regards to this thread. That said: It's got a massive library of games, a good chunk of which are ultra cheap or free, all of them...

Come to think of it, it also has a Nokia N8, Intel X3 Moorestown reference design look.

    Caanoo At E3

That's just silly. The A320 already exists, there's no reason to make another device that exactly duplicates it. Non replacable batteries let you keep it slim, and the iPod touch is one of the best gaming devices out there. Not all games work perfectly, but SFIV with touch screen is better...

Where Wiz Seemed To Really Go Wrong...

How many commercial games have there been for an GP/H handheld? It seems they just rely on emulation for the most part, and also as ESL learning tools.

    The Nintendo 3Ds

I understand these screens are already used in some cell phones in Japan. Nintendo has a tendency of packaging old technology in interesting ways, and I suspect this is another case of it. I doubt they'd go for it if it didn't already work.

Why Do Console Makers Strip Obvious Features?

That's certainly plausible, but then what about the GP32 - it was pretty much made for emulation.

They could go with touchless interface with the 3D image. I've seen some tech demos where you're looking at the screen, the image pops up and you have your hand over it manipulating the image that way. It would be killer with a game like Echochrome or Zen Bound. They could also do something like...

Why Do Console Makers Strip Obvious Features?

When the GameBoy Color was released it's fairly obvious, NES games are in colour and use 2 buttons and a D-Pad, that's fine. With the GBA it was supposed to play SNES games, and even got some SNES ports, but why did they leave the X and Y buttons off? It strikes me as obvious that you'd want...

Where Wiz Seemed To Really Go Wrong...

I'm actually curious why the GP2X got better suppor than the Zodiac. I never even heard of the GP2X until the F-200 was out, and that's when I started looking into getting a GameBoy Micro. PalmOS had a massive software library already and stuff was getting developed for that, so why not the...

Nova's List Of Things I Now Have To Buy

Speaking of the ODroid, how come it doesn't get the same hate the Wiz did for the keypad design?

    The Nintendo 3Ds

There's still the difference between rendering everything and only what's visible, I remember when I was comparing graphics cards for PCs around 1998 that was an issue for some cards and not others. If they're rendering for each eye to get 3D they're certainly not going to render the whole scene...

    The Nintendo 3Ds

I don't think that's a huge deal really, I'm sure they'll find a way to render that efficiently.

    Caanoo At E3

Not sold on the look. It doesn't look bad but I think the F-200 still looks better, and the Wiz too. What I'm really not keen on is the constant refreshes. GP32 - ~4 years GP2X F-100 - ~2 years GP2X F-200 - ~2 years GP2X Wiz - ~1 year Doesn't look like the Canoo will last more than 2 years...
