    Librem 5 phone by Purism

Librem 5 OS and the Pyra OS are both based on Debian, right? So any groundbreaking apps from each ecosystem should be portable to the other. (Apart from stuff that's exclusively ARM64, but that should be very rare) That doesn't say anything about demand for a PyraPhone, but at least the...

Nice, thank you for asking them about this! Now I have to think about whether it's a good idea to hack an 800€ device and probably void the warranty.

Someone discovered a working SIM slot in their OneMix 3, installed an m.2 LTE-modem and the necessary antennas, and it worked! But in the same thread they state that not all devices have the hidden slot: But it's really just the slot that seems to be missing, so one might be able to solder...

    Only the 3 non-s has the m.2 slot. The 3s doesn't.

So as far as I get it, it's an M.2 slot with B-keying. According to Wikipedia, it should support: Which means it should support an M.2 LTE modem (which use USB)! But as it doesn't have an LTE antenna nor a SIM card slot (and there seem to be no M.2 modems with either an eSIM or a SIM-slot)...

I think you should be able to write a keyboard driver that does that, both on Windows and Linux, but it's going to take at least some work. Was too good to be true after all. I really would have liked a 360° pocket smartphone-laptop with stylus and X86 CPU.

I asked on geekbuying and got a similar answer: Question:Does the second m.2 slot support adding an LTE modem? Does the device have a SIM slot? Our reply: No, it does not have the SIM slot in the Silver edition. Probably, will be released in the black edition.

I hope so, too. It's not clear right now how an LTE modem would work in the device. Does it have a SIM slot? Does it have antennas? I was hoping to use it as a replacement for my smartphone…

Nice! If I get one, I'll definitely get one from your shop!

    Future of the CPU board?

96boards are an initiative by Linaro and companies like Qualcomm. On their website it reads like they have decent Linux support for the chips on the boards? I don't know if this means you can easily buy these chips to build your own products, but maybe it's a good point of contact? I don't know...

The OneMix3 is now open for preorders. I'm really considering getting one. Does anyone have experiences with OneMix regarding battery degradation, repairability and general build quality?

Ah no, sorry, a keyboard layout optimized for the German language: https://neo-layout.org/ There's dozens of us! Dozens! (I know of 2 other people…)

Omg, the keyboard has enough keys to fit the Neo2 layout! And it's got a stylus, 360° hinge and an LTE modem(-slot)! It's what I've always wanted in a (somewhat) pocketable laptop! ED, I know it's not even launched yet but please stock this yesterday! Edit: Huh, so they start taking preorders...

    One Mix 2

Oh, nice! If it had LTE, I'd be seriously considering it. I'm just assuming it supports Linux, I can't imagine they'd lock it down to Win 10 only. It even has enough keys to fit my keyboard layout! (So does the Pyra, but not the GPD or Psion devices…)

Time for a new flavour of linux

It got better with modern processors. When I started using Gentoo on a Pentium III, compiling something the size of KDE took a literal weekend. With a 6 core AMD Phenom II, something like Libre Office was down to 45 minutes. Arch is the best of both worlds, imo. Binary by default, custom...

Time for a new flavour of linux

I find Arch relatively stable and easy to use once it's set up. I started recommending Antergos (basically a graphical Arch installer with a nice pacman GUI frontend) as people's first Linux distro because once you have a desktop environment running, it's pretty easy to use. Installing...

    It's all white!

With a different SoC, you could try to route some PCIe lanes through the hinge and connect the bottom half to that. There seem to exist some SoCs that have PCIe. But I think PCIe lanes need quite a bit of shielding to keep up the signal quality. On the other hand, a display cable gets a lot of...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

This would be more of a problem than it sounds. If you look closely at current phablet devices their weight is concentrated at the part where you hold them and even then they put a strain on your wrists. I had to get a smaller phone because my wrists started to hurt using an 8" tablet as heavy...
